WEST LAFAYETTE, IN, July 10, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Devon J. Pessler, PhD, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Pessler has established herself as a distinguished figure in the field of engineering technology, currently serving as a visiting assistant professor at the School of Engineering Technology, Purdue Polytechnic Institute, Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. Since assuming this role in 2024, she has been imparting her expertise in mechanical design and 3D CAD software to students, focusing on designing mechanisms effectively. Her proficiency with tools like Autodesk Inventor and SolidWorks underscores her knowledge in engineering education.
Prior to her current role, Dr. Pessler made significant contributions as a graduate assistant in the Technical Assistance Program at Purdue University from 2017 to 2024. During this period, she served as a student engineering consultant for Indiana businesses and manufacturers. Her efforts were instrumental in saving the Indiana manufacturing industry $4 million over seven years through innovative solutions. She worked with at least 40 different companies on 50 projects, all part of a state-funded technical assistance program. This experience was particularly rewarding for Dr. Pessler, as it allowed her to make a substantial impact on small to medium-sized businesses across Indiana.
Dr. Pessler's academic journey is marked by notable achievements that have laid the foundation for her professional success. She earned a Doctor of Philosophy in engineering technology from Purdue University in 2024, following a Master of Science in engineering technology in 2019 and a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering technology in 2018 from the same institution. Her master's studies focused on 3D printing materials for medical devices, while her doctoral research shifted to guitar manufacturing, aiming to establish metrics for acoustic guitar wood.
Dr. Pessler's dedication to excellence is further evidenced by her receipt of the Industrial Engagement Excellence Award from Purdue University's Technical Assistance Program in 2024. She attributes this award and her overall success to her ability to recognize and seize opportunities as they come her way. Her willingness to explore potential opportunities has opened many doors throughout her career.
Beyond academia, Dr. Pessler is actively involved with the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and volunteers in her free time. She also enjoys playing and watching sports, engaging in CrossFit, walking her dog, and traveling as hobbies.
In the upcoming years, Dr. Pessler envisions transitioning from her current visiting role at Purdue University to a permanent position as a professor of practice. She aims to extend her support to upper-level undergraduates while continuing her involvement with the Society of Manufacturing Engineers student chapter and increasing her prominence within both the national organization and the professional chapter.
