Dr. Allen is a board certified Developmental Behavioral Pediatrician who has more than a decade of experience serving children who have a variety of developmental and behavioral needs. Prior to starting her own practice, Created to Thrive PLLC, in 2024 Dr. Allen worked as an Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine and served as the only Developmental Behavioral Pediatrician (DBP) at Texas Children's Hospital in the Woodlands, TX from 2016 to 2023. During this time, Dr. Allen also served as the medical director of a one-of-a-kind multi-disciplinary Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Follow-up program from 2018 to 2023. Notably, in 2020, Dr. Allen was awarded the Shining Star Award from Texas Children's Hospital in acknowledgment of her dedication to providing exceptional patient care. Her tenure with the hospital was marked by a commitment to improving the lives of children with developmental challenges, which further advanced Dr. Allen's reputation as a compassionate and skilled physician.

In addition to her clinical roles, Dr. Allen's work in academia provided a key opportunity to share her deep knowledge with future generations of medical professionals, especially aspiring pediatricians. Dr. Allen also maintains active membership in several esteemed organizations including the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Society for Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics and she has been an active member of a Clinical Advisory Board since April 2019, indicative of her desire to remain current in advancements in the field and contribute to the broader medical community.

Dr. Allen's expertise spans a wide range of developmental and behavioral diagnoses including developmental delay(s), autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, genetic and metabolic syndromes, prenatal and postnatal trauma, and behavioral concerns. Dr. Allen's commitment to superior patient outcomes is evident in her approach to medicine, which is shaped by her unfailing desire to help her patient's, and their families, thrive - which she counts as her most significant career achievement.

The pursuit of academic excellence prompted Dr. Allen to secure distinct credentials that include a bachelor's degree from Baylor University. She subsequently earned her MD from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in 2010 and then went on to complete a 3-year general pediatric residency program at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 2013, where she was named the Resident of the Year in 2012. Dr. Allen subsequently completed a 3-year pediatric fellowship in Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO in 2016.

Dr. Allen attributes her success to her family, her faith in Jesus, and her unwavering commitment to make a difference. In recognition of her many contributions, she has humbly accepted numerous accolades including grants from the Montgomery Foundation in 2022 and the Houston Foundation in 2019. In addition, Dr. Allen was awarded a travel grant from the American Academy of Pediatrics in 2016 which allowed her to spend a month in Shenyang China, educating and training local family medicine residents about common pediatric developmental and behavioral concerns. Dr. Allen also received a travel grant from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine's Global and Border Health Society in 2010 which allowed her to spend a month in Mekele Ethiopia, serving at a local pediatric hospital. Notably, Dr. Allen was also inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society in 2010.

Dr. Allen remains actively engaged in civic initiatives, giving back to the community that has supported her journey. She also cherishes spending time with her family and dogs.
