As an associate director of operations excellence and lean transformation at KPMG (Klynveld, Peat, Marwick and Goerdeler), a global advisory firm of audit, tax and consulting services, he focuses on deploying lean management systems to streamline internal operations and enhance back-office processes. His role involves managing high-level program-based operations and coaching team leads up to executive directors, aiding them in implementing lean principles within their organizations.

In addition to his role at KPMG, Mr. Avila has served as a lean transformation coach with AM Group in El Salvador since 2024. In this capacity, he deployed lean management practices and developed diagnostic seminars across various lean and problem-solving principles, further solidifying his expertise in process improvement and client relations. His previous experience includes a directorial position at EY-Parthenon from 2022 to 2024, where he took on various client-facing engagements and focused on improving operational processes and mergers & acquisitions.

Mr. Avila's career trajectory also includes significant contributions at West Monroe, where he held positions as a manager in 2022 and senior consultant from 2020 to 2022. In this capacity, he advised clients with process improvement, coaching and training them to achieve operational excellence. During his time at West Monroe, he also co-founded Somos, a Hispanic/Latino Business Resource Group to create a space for his community to bring their whole self to work and be the next generation of leaders. Prior to his New York-based roles, he spent a significant portion of his career working in manufacturing — a passion he developed at just eight years old while visiting his uncle's dairy factory and experiencing his father's entrepreneurial projects. He was the director of business process improvement and quality assurance at Western Shield Label Company from 2017 to 2019 and held various leadership positions at Crane Co. and Actuant Corporation between 2011 and 2017.

Mr. Avila's education has been vital in his professional achievements, particularly during his transition from manufacturing to consulting services. He earned an executive MBA from Columbia Business School in 2023 with a focus on finance, operations, leadership, entrepreneurship and family business. In 2010, he obtained a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, where he developed a strong interest in process improvement.

As an ongoing commitment to his field, Mr. Avila has been actively involved with the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers for over 15 years, having joined as an undergraduate student. He has held various leadership roles within the organization, such as president of the Los Angeles-Orange County professional chapter in 2015. His consistent dedication to operational excellence has been recognized with accolades like the OCEC Outstanding Young Engineer Award from the Orange County Engineering Council in 2017.

Born in Louisiana and raised in El Salvador until 18, Mr. Avila's multicultural background has expanded his horizons and allowed him to flourish in various corporate environments. He has accomplished a great deal despite facing adversity, such as the tragic loss of his mother in an earthquake when he was only a year old. Growing up in a single-parent household in a developing country, he had to forge his own path at a young age and developed resilience as a result. He credits this resilience, as well as his ability to identify opportunities in the face of challenges, as a key component in his achievements. Moreover, since his career has not followed a conventional trajectory, he recognizes that experiencing failure is also a critical component for success because it prompts reflection and growth.

Looking back on his accomplishments thus far, Mr. Avila is immensely grateful to his mentors, friends, and family, especially his wife, who has demonstrated unwavering support. Happily married for more than a decade, he finds joy in exploring new cultures through food and traveling with purpose alongside his wife.
