Affiliated with the health care organization since 2005, Dr. Nguyen has continuously excelled. Hired as a patient care manager, a position she held until 2019, her leadership during this period was marked by significant improvements in nurse and patient satisfaction, particularly through initiatives such as shared leadership councils and training programs for oncology and critical care nurses. Dr. Nguyen's efforts culminated in the promotion of 25 assistant managers to management positions in December 2019, a testament to her commitment to developing future leaders.
Among other notable roles, Dr. Nguyen served as director of clinical operations from 2019 to 2022. She also served as an interim associate chief nursing officer in 2022, where she demonstrated her ability to lead effectively during periods of transition. From there, she was the director of nursing excellence and magnet programs between 2022 and 2023, where she helped solidify her reputation for promoting high standards in nursing care. More recently, Dr. Nguyen excelled as the associate chief nursing officer from 2022 to 2024, during which time she played a pivotal role in advancing nursing practices and fostering an environment that promoted professional growth.
Highly educated, Dr. Nguyen holds a Bachelor of Science in nursing and a Master of Science in nursing administration from San José State University, earned in 1997 and 2009, respectively. She also received a Doctor of Nursing Practice on campus in 2021.
Dr. Nguyen's contributions extend to involvement with several industry-related organizations. She serves as a board member for the Northern California Association of California Nurse Leaders and is the founder and president of the Stanford Healthcare subchapter of the Philippine Nurses Association of Northern California. Her memberships with the American Nurses Association, the American Organization for Nursing Leadership and the Philippine Nurses Association of America further highlight her commitment to advancing the nursing profession. Outside of her professional life, Dr. Nguyen is deeply involved in civic activities as the president of an advisory board for a local school district and as an executive board member at her children's schools.
In addition to her primary professional engagements, Dr. Nguyen is an accomplished author and speaker. Her publications include 'Medication Pass Time Out,' which was featured in the Journal of Nursing Care Quality in 2007, and 'A Multiphase Intervention to Increase Nurses' Knowledge and Understanding of Value-Based Payment Associated with HCAHPS Care Transition Scores,' via Nursing Economics in 2024. She has also shared her expertise at various conferences worldwide, including an international conference in China in 2024.
Dr. Nguyen's dedication has been recognized through numerous awards, including being named one of the Top 50 Women Chief Nursing Officers by Women We Admire in 2024 and among America's Top Nurses by Today's Nurse in 2025. She also received multiple Malinda S. Mitchell Quality and Service Awards and was honored with Advanced Leader Recognition by the University of California, San Francisco.
