BLYTHEVILLE, AR, July 16, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bill Tyer has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Tyer, a distinguished physical education instructor, has dedicated his life to the development and success of his students. Currently, he serves as a physical education instructor at Arkansas Northeastern College, where he teaches two online fitness classes. His curriculum emphasizes fitness, self-care and health education, requiring students to engage in 12 hours of physical activity. His commitment to education and fitness is evident in his approach to teaching, which combines practical experience with theoretical knowledge.
Educationally, Mr. Tyer holds a master's degree in physical education, which has been instrumental in shaping his teaching philosophy and methods. He also completed coursework toward a bachelor's degree in economics with a minor in mathematics at Arkansas State University. Although he did not complete this degree initially due to work commitments, he later returned to fulfill his academic aspirations.
After earning a master's degree in physical education, Mr. Tyer connected with a college coach in Memphis and expressed interest in learning to coach. The coach invited him to assist with filming and statistics, where he used his math skills and gained hands-on experience. Within three years, he became head coach and took charge of recruiting. He later coached at the high school level before joining the University of Central Arkansas as a recruiter, then becoming head coach at Arkansas Northeastern College in 1981. Over 11 years, he led a nationally ranked program, always emphasizing that coaching is about teaching life skills and helping players grow through the game.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Tyer spent three years as a physical education instructor at Greene County Tech High School. His tenure there was marked by his dedication to fostering a supportive and challenging environment for students. Outside of his teaching roles, he has also been recognized for his expertise in consulting, a testament to his profound understanding of physical education and student development.
Reflecting on his career, Mr. Tyer attributes much of his success to the support and guidance of his father and grandparents. Their influence instilled in him the importance of attention to detail and perseverance, qualities that have been pivotal throughout his career. Despite some regrets about education choices when he was young, such as opting for speech lessons over piano lessons, he believes these experiences have shaped him into the educator he is today.
Dedicated to civic work, Mr. Tyer is a generous donor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and St. Joseph's Indian School. He also contributes money and clothes to underprivileged children. In his personal life, he enjoys watching the Cardinals play against the Dodgers and takes pride in maintaining two rental houses along with two parcels of land, one of which is 26 acres and the other 300 acres. He also prioritizes spending time with his family, including his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Throughout his career, Mr. Tyer is proud of winning state championships with his teams and being selected as Coach of The Year several times at a junior college. He also takes immense joy in watching his students' success, particularly the success of one William Moore, whom he coached in basketball to achieve a 44-inch vertical jump. Later, this student was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons and has since had a successful career. As he looks toward the future of his career, Mr. Tyer remains committed to staying healthy through regular workouts and anticipates continuing collaborations within his community to help more students succeed.
