Prior to his current position, Dr. Oyebanji was a senior technical specialist and national direct service delivery vaccine lead at Right to Care from 2022 to 2023. For the preceding two years, he served as district director at BroadReach, where he was recognized for his outstanding work and was a finalist for the founder's award. His leadership skills were further honed during his tenure as national programme manager at Kheth'Impilo in Cape Town, South Africa, from 2014 to 2019, where he also received an award in recognition of his contributions.
Dr. Oyebanji's earlier career includes his role as a senior technical advisor at the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation from 2010 to 2013. During this period, he serves as the designated consultant clinician with the national apex center for the care of healthcare workers and their immediate family members to access comprehensive quality health care services to address the unique needs of the nation's health workforce (Caring for the Carer). His foundational experience was as a clinician and a district medical office administrator with the health government from 2000 to 2010.
Educationally, Dr. Oyebanji's journey includes earning a Doctor of Philosophy in public health earned in South Africa in 2023, a Master of Public Health in 2009 and a Doctor of Medicine in 2000. He also holds a certificate in HIV management from George Washington University and numerous certifications in leadership and development, tuberculosis, maternal newborn child and women's health, quality improvement and related courses.
Overall, Dr. Oyebanji credits his success to global training opportunities and the invaluable guidance of his mentors. His commitment to community development is also evident through his membership with the International Agency for Community Development (IACD), USA and his participation in community outreach initiatives both locally and in his home country of Nigeria.
In addition to his professional achievements, Dr. Oyebanji has made significant contributions to public health literature. He is the author of "Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV," "Promoting Awareness of the Role of the District Clinical Specialist Team in the Amathole District, South Africa: A Valuable Specialty in Improving Healthcare Access and Quality" and "PMTCT Data Management, and Reporting During the Transition Phase of Implementing the Rationalised Registers in Amathole District, Eastern Cape Province South Africa," among numerous other publications.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Oyebanji values spending time with his family, which includes his wife, who works in education, and their two children. He enjoys playing badminton, going to the gym and maintaining a healthy work-life balance in his free time.
Looking ahead, he aims to further enhance his career as a program manager while continuing to share his knowledge with the community. He is committed to improving lives through education and health care initiatives and is currently pursuing fellowship opportunities at a public health institute in the United Kingdom.
