Throughout his career, Dr. German is most proud of the establishment of the Dr. Daniel B. German Eminent Professorship in Political Science at Appalachian State University.

BLOWING ROCK, NC, July 17, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Daniel B. German, Professor Emeritus, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. Dr. German has cultivated a distinguished career spanning over five decades, marked by significant contributions to academia and political science. He served as the English editor at Meitan Higher Education from 2016 to 2021. His expertise in digital society is widely recognized, reflecting his commitment to understanding and navigating the complexities of modern communication.

Prior to his current role, Dr. German was a lecturer at the Institute of Higher Education at China University of Mining and Technology from 2014 to 2015. His tenure there was characterized by his dedication to bridging linguistic and cultural gaps between Chinese and American English and politics. Additionally, he has been a professor emeritus at Appalachian State University since 2009, a title he was granted after serving at the university from 1972 to 2008. During this time, he was instrumental in shaping the university's political science department and was honored with the Outstanding University Teacher award in 1976.

Throughout his career, Dr. German is most proud of the establishment of the Dr. Daniel B. German Eminent Professorship in Political Science at Appalachian State University. This endowment scholarship was supported by over $1 million in funding from the university, the State of North Carolina, the Spangler Foundation, J.D. Spangler and various private donors.
Dr. German's academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Dakota in 1962, followed by a Master of Arts from the same institution in 1964. He then earned a Doctor of Philosophy in government from Georgetown University in 1970.

Furthering his expertise, Dr. German has also been actively involved in various professional organizations as President of the International Political Science Association Research Committee on Political Education and Socialization and Education (RC21) and a vice-chair of Psycho-Politics (RC29) in 2010 and has been a member of both the American Political Science Association and the International Political Science Association.

Further contributing to his field, Dr. German's scholarly contributions include authoring "Political Socialization Theory, Research, and Application: History and Analysis of Forty Years of the Research Committee on Political Socialization and Education of the International Political Science Association: 1979-2019" in 2017 (co-authored by Henk Dekker and Christ'l De Landtsheer). He has also been a reviewer for esteemed journals, such as Government Information Quarterly, the International Political Science Review and the Asian Journal for Public Opinion Research. As co-managing editor of the international peer-reviewed journal Politics, Culture and Socialization, he also continues to influence contemporary discourse on political socialization.

In addition to his professional achievements, Dr. German is deeply committed to civic engagement and personal development. He enjoys hiking, photography, cooking, gardening, landscaping and other outdoor activities as hobbies. As he looks to the future, he aims to continue his work in editing and peer reviewing within his field. He emphasizes exploring new ways for effective communication through social media while addressing challenges posed by ideological echo chambers.

Dr. German attributes his success to a strong sense of personal responsibility and self-motivation that began early in life. Known for his driven nature and goal-oriented mindset, he financed his own university education and embraced self-reliance - a trait instilled by his father as "pulling himself up by his own bootstraps."
