Dr. Bowers, a distinguished expert in structural cardiology, has made significant contributions to the field over his 20-year career. As the chair and chief executive officer of Texas Cardiovascular Specialists PLLC since 2023, he oversees the group's day-to-day operations, quality outcomes, recruitment and strategic planning while continuing to practice medicine. Dr. Bowers's leadership has been instrumental in advancing minimally invasive heart valve surgeries using catheter-based techniques. Dr. Bowers was part of a pioneering effort to bring catheter based valve therapies to the United States.

In addition to his role at Texas Cardiovascular Specialists, Dr. Bowers has served as the national medical director for interventional and structural cardiology at HCA Healthcare since 2015. He has also been influential as the regional interventional and noninvasive cardiology leader at Medical City Healthcare of North Texas since 2010 and through his ongoing positions as the medical director at Dallas Valve Institute since 2005. Moreover, since 2007, Dr. Bowers has been the general partner at The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano.

Among other noteworthy roles, Dr. Bowers was active as the medical staff president at Medical City Heart and Spine Hospitals from 2019 to 2024. He also chaired the peer review committee at Medical City Healthcare between 2010 and 2024.

In preparation for his career, Dr. Bowers received a Bachelor of Arts in neuroscience from Wesleyan University in 1993 and a Doctor of Medicine degree from Saint George's University in Grenada in 1998. He completed an interventional cardiology residency program at Drexel University College of Medicine in 2005 and later pursued a diploma in Executive Healthcare Management and Delivery from Harvard Business School in 2017. Dr. Bowers attributes his success to hard work and dedication, which have propelled him to the forefront of his field.

Dr. Bowers's professional affiliations include being a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and having memberships in the Dallas County Medical Society, the American Medical Association and the Texas Medical Board. These associations underscore his dedication to maintaining high standards in cardiovascular medicine. Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Bowers is actively involved in civic activities through volunteer work with Catholic Church organizations.

Dr. Bowers has served as a principal investigator in several clinical trials which have investigated new minimally invasive valve therapies. He has served as a research leader in numerous national and international research trials that have advanced new treatments for aortic, mitral, and tricuspid valve diseases. His participation in cutting-edge valve research has made him a nationally recognized leader in his field. In light of his success, he has been named to the Best Doctor in America list and has received multi-year recognition as a Top Doctor by Dallas Magazine and a Texas SuperDoctor by Texas Monthly Magazine.

His career choice was inspired by a personal experience he had during his undergraduate university years while playing collegiate football. Dr. Bowers suffered a spine injury which required multiple surgeries and a lengthy inpatient rehab process. The exceptional care he received during his own personal recovery ignited his passion for helping others and made him pursue a career in medicine.
