BEAVERTON, OR, July 21, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- James D. White has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. White has carved out a distinguished career in the realm of digital transformation and strategic consulting. Having founded Barbosa Consulting LLC in 2016 and been the chief executive officer since then, he has been instrumental in guiding Fortune 1000 manufacturing companies to enhance their operational efficiency. His innovative approach, which he terms "workstreams," aligns digital processes between engineering and manufacturing, creating greater flexibility and productivity.
Prior to his current role, Mr. White served as vice president of strategy at Duro Labs from 2021 to 2025, preceded by a one-year tenure at Tech-Clarity Inc. as vice president of digital innovation research. From 2019 to 2021, he held the position of vice president of digital transformation at Upchain, where he spearheaded initiatives that revolutionized the company's approach to technology adoption. His expertise was also sought after by IpX (Institute for Process Excellence) in 2019, where he served as principal digital transformation strategist.
Mr. White's mid-career includes significant contributions as the director of additive manufacturing strategy practice at CIMdata from 2017 to 2019 and other managerial positions at Accenture and Autodesk. His foundational years were marked by his tenure as vice president of sales and co-owner at Integware and director of business development at both CoCreate Software and HP Development Company L.P.
Overall, Mr. White is most proud of his early work at Hewlett-Packard Germany from 1996 to 1999, where he led a major turnaround effort for the company's CAD/PLM division's underperforming operations in Asia. After conducting an in-person business study, he was tasked with executing his plan to boost performance across the region. Through extensive travel, relationship-building and culturally sensitive leadership, he successfully increased revenue from sub-peer level to surpassing software revenue benchmarks for the region. He also established staffed legal business entities and tailored operations in each major Asian country, earning awards and recognition along the way from customers and business partners. His success drew the attention of senior executives in the United States who asked him to relocate from Singapore to Colorado and take up a new product-to-market challenge.
Mr. White earned a bachelor's degree in engineering from Otago University in Dunedin, New Zealand, while employed full time as a design draftsman at Scott Technology. He left New Zealand in 1982 to pursue a career in the nascent CAD/PLM industry. This ambition coupled with his adventurous spirit took him first to Australia, then England, Germany, Singapore and finally to the USA in 1999. While general manager of a CAD/PLM company in Melbourne, Australia, he earned a postgraduate diploma in business and marketing from the David Syme Business School of Marketing, Monash University. Apart from his career moves and studies, he attributes much of his success to his risk taking and adventurous spirit, instilled in him by his parents who emigrated from England to New Zealand in 1947.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. White is deeply committed to civic work. Since 2013, he has volunteered as a stroke and turn judge and swimming instructor for Special Olympics Oregon. Additionally, he has mentored participants in the Robotics Competition with FIRST Washington since 2012. In his personal life, he is a motorcyclist and enjoys spending his free time with his family, including his four children and two stepchildren. He has been a competitive swimmer for more than 60 years, specializing in cold water ocean swimming events, ratified by the Marathon Swimmers Federation (https://marathonswimmers.org). He is the oldest and 34th person in the world to swim the Strait of Magellan in southern Chile, among other ratified long-distance cold water swims.
Looking ahead, Mr. White aims to assist ambitious manufacturing companies in overcoming challenges by leveraging artificial intelligence safely. His mission is to empower employees by allowing AI to handle tedious tasks so they can focus on more meaningful work that utilizes their skills effectively. He encourages everyone to strive for high goals and not let challenges dampen enthusiasm, knowing that many successful businesspeople and engineers of today faced numerous challenges.
