Dr. Tito, an esteemed physician, has dedicated his career to advancing medical care and education. As an attending physician at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, he has been deeply involved in patient care, working with resident physicians, teaching medical courses, advising medical students and conducting research. His expertise in global health and epidemiology is widely recognized, and he is a respected member of several industry-related organizations including the Assembly of Osteopathic Graduate Medical Educators, the American College of Physicians, and the American College of Osteopathic Internists.
Currently, Dr. Tito serves as a captain in the U.S. Army Medical Department, assigned to a Medical Readiness Operational Unit. During his military service, he has deployed to Iraq as a combat physician, where he provided critical medical care under challenging conditions. This experience not only honed his medical skills but also deepened his commitment to serving underserved populations.
Dr. Tito's educational journey laid a strong foundation for his professional achievements. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Western Michigan University's Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine in 2023. He earned his Doctor of Medicine in osteopathic medicine from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2020 and holds a Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park, as well as an Associate of Science in biomedical engineering from Montgomery College. He further enhanced his expertise by completing an osteopathic health policy fellowship with the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine and an academic medicine writing fellowship with the National Center for Pre-Faculty Development Dr. Tito attributes much of his success to the support he received from his community in Petersburg, West Virginia.
In addition to his professional roles, Dr. Tito is actively involved in civic-minded organizations. He co-founded The Body Screening Project while still in medical school, initially focusing on bringing health care to smaller communities in West Virginia. The project has since expanded its reach to underserved populations across Cameroon and Central Africa. Dr. Tito also serves on the board of directors for The Center for Rural Health Development and is an advocate for social medicine. His volunteer work with the American National Red Cross further exemplifies his commitment to humanitarian efforts.
Dr. Tito's contributions to medicine and community service have been recognized with several accolades, including The U.S Public Health Service Excellence in Public Health Award in 2020. He is also a published author; one of his notable books, "A Fire in Appalachia: A Journey from Underserved to Serving," chronicles his personal journey from growing up in an underserved neighborhood to making a significant impact on similar communities.
Looking ahead, Dr. Tito plans to expand his efforts in The Body Screening Project by establishing a facility that collaborates with hospitals across the United States to provide care to more individuals worldwide. Additionally, he aspires to advance his career by becoming a dean at a medical school, where he can educate and mentor future generations of physicians.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Dr. Tito enjoys virtual reality and traveling, pursuits that reflect his adventurous spirit and appreciation for diverse cultures and environments. Born in Douala, he shares his life with Anita Tito, whom he married in 2023. Together, they continue to make meaningful contributions to their community and beyond.
