AIEA, HI, July 24, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Doreen Fukushima, MD, psychiatrist with Keizer Kauka LLC, was selected by Marquis Who's Who for a prominent feature in the June/July 2025 Hawaii regional issue of Forbes magazine.

A distinguished psychiatrist for more than a decade, Dr. Fukushima specializes in cutting-edge treatments for depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, schizophrenia and substance use disorders. She gained early experience in her field as a qualified medical evaluator for the California Division of Workers' Compensation Medical Unit. Following that appointment, Dr. Fukushima founded her own practice, Keizer Kauka LLC, in 2019. This accomplishment marked a major milestone in her career and still stands out as a highlight.

Despite struggling with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Fukushima kept her practice alive and chose not to transition to online consultation. With expertise in the latest outpatient treatments for depression, such as Neurostar's transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) therapy, she recognized that seeing her patients in person was essential. Dr. Fukushima's patience and perseverance paid off, as Keizer Kauka has flourished, allowing her to make a positive impact on the lives of her patients. She emphasizes treating her clients with the same empathy and compassion that she would give to family members and describes herself as "a bulldog" in fighting for the health and growth of her patients.

As a commitment to her practice, Dr. Fukushima has been active with several industry-related organizations. She maintains membership with the American Psychiatric Association and the Clinical TMS Society. In 2024, Dr. Fukushima's quality care was recognized when she was named Top Psychiatrist in Hawaii. She attributes her success to the guidance of mentors such as attending psychiatrists Dr. Iqbal Ahmed and Dr. Brett Lu, as well as continued support and advice from her mother.

Outside her professional life, Dr. Fukushima enjoys spending time with her pet bird and her father's hunting dogs. In planning for the future, she considers it her life mission to reduce the stigma that many individuals feel around pursuing psychiatric help. Dr. Fukushima also hopes to expand her client base from adults to include adolescents. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has recently approved Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation for youth aged 15 to 17.

EDUCATION HIGHLIGHTS
Before venturing onto her vocational path, Dr. Fukushima built a solid foundation in her education. She earned a Doctor of Medicine from the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Subsequently, Dr. Fukushima completed a residency with the University of Hawaii Psychiatry Residency Program in 2010.
