INDIANAPOLIS, IN, July 24, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Greg Hull, MFA, dean and professor of sculpture at the Herron School of Art and Design of Indiana University, was selected by Marquis Who's Who for a prominent feature in the June 2025 Indianapolis regional issue of TIME magazine.
A tireless advocate for the power of art, Mr. Hull has devoted nearly 40 years to professional artistry. Following up on multiple notable projects throughout the 1990s, he founded his sculpture studio, GEO Studios LLC, in 1997. Mr. Hull joined the Herron School of Art and Design at Indiana University (IU) in 1998 as a professor of sculpture. In 2017, he became the institution's chair of fine arts, and in 2020, he accepted the role of dean, demonstrating the lasting influence he has had on the school. Even as dean, Mr. Hull has maintained a teaching position, embracing his love for education. He has also overseen the integration of Indiana University's Music and Arts Technology department into the Herron School of Art and Design.
As an artist, Mr. Hull has focused on the intersection of art, therapy and neurology. He has collaborated with the IU Health Neuroscience Center and the Indiana University School of Medicine to explore how art creation can help patients with ALS. Mr. Hull considers his work with ALS patients a highlight of his career. In particular, he is proud to have created digital tools that aid these patients in making their own artwork.
Mr. Hull has distinguished himself throughout his field in a number of capacities. He holds membership with the Indiana University Alliance of Distinguished and Titled Professors, the Culture and Education Association, and the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. Mr. Hull has served as the commissioner of the Indiana Arts Commission since 2019. In addition to his primary vocation, he regularly volunteers for a variety of community projects, both artistic and otherwise.
Outside his career, Mr. Hull is a dedicated husband and father to two children. As he moves forward, he hopes to expand his work related to ALS to elucidate a deeper connection between art and health. Mr. Hull also plans to integrate art with STEM disciplines more closely and continue teaching others the value and impact art can have on their lives.
