Mr. Ewing has dedicated over three decades to the Houston Police Department, where he currently serves as a sergeant of police. Since 1994, he has been a steadfast presence in law enforcement, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to public safety and community engagement. His journey into policing was inspired by a neighbor and his older brother, both of whom were officers. This influence, coupled with his own aspirations, led him to pursue a career in law enforcement.

Prior to his tenure with the police department, Mr. Ewing worked as a payroll supervisor at American General Life Insurance in 1994. Concurrent with this work, he earned a Master of Science in administration of justice from Texas Southern University and a Bachelor of Science in organizational leadership from Mountain State University. He is proud of completing his schooling while working full time to support himself, as his family could not afford to send him to higher education.

Throughout his career, Mr. Ewing has been deeply influenced by the strong work ethic and values instilled in him by his parents. Their dedication to providing for their family and their emphasis on kindness and respect have been guiding principles in his life. These values are evident in his interactions with colleagues and community members alike, as he consistently strives to treat others with dignity and fairness.

Mr. Ewing has received a total of 38 letters of commendation over the course of his career. These include four Mayor Commendations, two Chief of Police Commendations, three Assistant Chief of Police Commendations, 15 Supervisor Commendations, one U.S. Department of Justice Commendation and one Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Commendation. The remaining commendations were from businesses, employees, and citizens.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Ewing is also recognized for his role as a positive influence within his family and community. He takes pride in being a role model for younger family members, many of whom seek his guidance on career choices and life decisions. His involvement extends beyond family, as he actively engages with young people at the airport where he works, offering advice and support for their future endeavors.

Looking ahead, Mr. Ewing envisions retiring from the police department while maintaining good health. He is open to exploring opportunities as a mentor or consultant post-retirement, potentially within the police department itself. Encouraged by his wife, who believes he would excel as a chief of police, he remains connected to frontline policing, valuing direct communication with patrol officers and investigators.

Outside of his professional life, Mr. Ewing enjoys fishing and hunting as hobbies. As he contemplates future leadership roles within the community, he remains committed to serving others and upholding the values that have defined his career and personal life.
