Prior to her current roles, Ms. Hovet served as an Advanced Clinical Specialist at the Northeast Human Service Center in Grand Forks, North Dakota, from 2020 to 2022. Ms. Hovet's journey in mental health began as a clinical trainee at the Northwestern Mental Health Center from 2018 to 2020, where she gained invaluable experience and insight into therapeutic practices.

Ms. Hovet's career also includes her tenure as an Autism Interventionist at the Anne Carlsen Center in Grand Forks from 2015 to 2018. A proud alumna of the University of North Dakota, Ms. Hovet earned both her Master of Social Work in 2017 and Bachelor of Social Work in 2012. Her academic achievements laid a strong foundation for her professional success and were formally recognized when she became the first recipient of the Outstanding Alumni Award from the Department of Social Work at the University of North Dakota.

Ms. Hovet holds several certifications that enhance her practice, including licensure as an Independent Clinical Social Worker through the Minnesota Board of Social Work since 2022 and as a Clinical Social Worker through the North Dakota Board of Social Work Examiners since 2021. Ms. Hovet is trained in various modalities of therapy, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) Ms. Hovet is also pursuing certification in sex and couple's therapy, which will further expand her expertise and service offerings.

Known for her commitment to civic initiatives, Ms. Hovet participates as a donor for Rally for Recovery and is a member of the Chamber of Commerce in Grand Forks and East Grand Forks. Reflecting on her career, she recognizes that determination has been a significant driving force behind her accomplishments. A standout moment in Ms. Hovet's career came in 2015 when she independently organized a fundraiser to support the Community Violence Intervention Center. The event, titled "Hope, Love, Sing", was a performance-based program featuring herself, her brother and several local artists. Through this creative initiative, Ms. Hovet successfully raised funds for a noble cause, showcasing her leadership, community engagement and commitment to social impact. Ms. Hovet and her team of dedicated professionals recreated this event in 2024 and raised funds for a non-profit organization, Project Dignity, based out of Grand Forks, ND.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Ms. Hovet is passionate about traveling, reading and engaging in various activities with her daughter and partner. Looking ahead, she aims to expand Amber Waves Therapy by adding more therapists and establishing a diverse team capable of addressing various client needs. With an eye toward growth, Ms. Hovet also envisions purchasing a dedicated building to support the practice's continued development, all while prioritizing excellent client care.
