Since assuming this role in 2021, she has expertly led a team dedicated to safeguarding sensitive information and ensuring the security of critical systems. A leader in her field, Dr. Weitoish is the author of numerous works related to the intersection of cybersecurity, talent acquisition, and public health. Before joining the Department of Veterans Affairs, Dr. Weitoish held the position of cyber engineer and cybersecurity analyst team lead for SAIC in Austin, Texas, in 2021. Her expertise was further honed during her tenure at Halfaker and Associates, LLC, where she served as a cyber engineer and cybersecurity analyst from 2020 to 2021, and as an SCCM administrator from 2019 to 2020. Previously, she spent three years at AT&T, where she advanced from a customer support specialist in advanced technical support to a Mi-60 manager, also known as a rapid response manager. Her early professional journey included roles as a child protective services case worker, therapeutic staff support worker, and English as a second language teacher.

Shifting to academic achievements, Dr. Weitoish earned a Master of Science in cybersecurity from American Military University in 2016, graduating magna cum laude. She also holds a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts, both in criminology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, completed in 2003 and 2001, respectively. Currently pursuing a PhD in Cyber Leadership at Capitol Technology University, she successfully defended her dissertation in June 2025, with her conferral date scheduled for August 23, 2025. Dr. Weitoish will be the first in her family to achieve this milestone.

Dr. Weitoish's commitment to professional development is evident through her certifications from the Six Sigma Global Institute and other prestigious organizations. These include Lean Six Sigma Expert, Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Agile Leader Certification, and CompTIA Security+ CE Certification, among others.

Dr. Weitoish has been recognized for her contributions with the VA FSC/FTS Donkey Kong Award, Employee of the Year, and Top Performer awards from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Her involvement as a mentor at American Military University, which began in 2023, highlights her dedication to nurturing future talent in cybersecurity.

Beyond her professional life, Dr. Weitoish enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching movies, playing video games, and reading. Looking ahead, she plans to complete her last semester for her PhD and may pursue further academic endeavors encouraged by her university's support for continued education.
