With over 35 years of experience, she has been with Weill Cornell Medicine's Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine since 2001. She presently serves as the senior operations and revenue administrator. In this role, she is responsible for managing the revenue cycle of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and operationally overseeing three laboratories. Her ability to lead high-performance teams and manage people effectively has earned her the nickname "the Closer," highlighting her results-oriented approach.

Prior to her current position, Ms. Ewell was a revenue manager at Columbia University from 1999 to 2001. While there, she increased revenue by 25% by managing all provider enrollment issues and developing systems and financial reports for teaching services and private practice billing and revenue. For the preceding three years, she served as a manager at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, where she further developed her expertise in health care administration.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Ewell contributed to New York United Hospital Medical Center as an admitting registrar per diem from 1993 to 1996, after serving as an accounts supervisor at St. John's Riverside Hospital for the previous two years. Her healthcare career began at Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital, where she worked as an account representative from 1990 to 1993.

In addition to her professional roles, Ms. Ewell has contributed to academia as an adjunct professor at the College of New Rochelle from 2001 to 2003, where she implemented individualized teaching strategies tailored to meet the diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds of her students. Her passion for education and mentorship is evident in her continued commitment to teaching and inspiring future leaders in the field. She plans on returning to academia this fall.

Ms. Ewell's educational background includes a Master of Business Administration with distinction from Long Island University in 2000 and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Iona University in 1995. She is very proud to be the first in her family to attend and graduate with an advanced degree. Complementing her classroom education, she is a certified professional coder, as certified by the American Association of Professional Coders, which she obtained in 2005.

Deeply committed to her family and her work, Ms. Ewell has overcome significant challenges in her life, including being a teenage mother and an immigrant from Jamaica. Looking back on her journey, she attributes her success to perseverance and determination, qualities that have further driven her to uplift others in her community through volunteer work and mentorship.

In her personal life Ms. Ewell is a passionate cycling enthusiast, riding approximately 150 miles per week, and volunteers in the community in her free time. In the upcoming years, she is focused on achieving her long-held dream of earning a doctorate. Her dedication to personal growth and professional excellence continues to inspire those around her, including her daughter and brother, who serve as role models within their family.
