Mr. Wright is a distinguished preservation anthropologist with a decade-long tenure at Archaeology Southwest. His expertise has been instrumental in his role, where he collaborates with tribes and descendant communities in the Southwest to safeguard their ancestral lands. Mr. Wright's work involves archaeological research, leading teams that include tribal members and volunteers, and conducting research aimed at achieving preservation outcomes. He actively engages in monument campaigns, securing research grants and delivering public lectures. His dedication to building meaningful relationships with descendant communities is the cornerstone of his work, enabling his scholarly contributions and other accomplishments.

Mr. Wright's career began as an archaeologist with Southwest Archaeological Consultants from 2000 to 2002. He then joined Statistical Research Inc. in 2002, followed by Western Cultural Resource Management Inc. the same year. In 2003, he worked as an archaeologist with Lopezgarcia Group Inc., URS Corporation, before moving to DMG Four Corners Research Inc., where he served from 2002 to 2004. Mr. Wright is a member of several industry-related organizations, including the Society for American Archaeology, the Register of Professional Archaeologists, the American Rock Art Research Association, the Arizona Archaeological and Historical Society, and the Arizona Archaeological Society. Having made significant scholarly contributions, his dissertation was published as an award-winning book over a decade ago, followed by another book released last year. Supported by a grant from the Wintergreen Foundation, he is currently preparing for a collaborative writing project involving U.S., Mexican, and Indigenous scholars.

Mr. Wright's academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology from The Ohio State University in 1999. Born in Marietta, Mr. Wright enjoys brewing beer, running, camping, and hiking. He attributes his success to the supportive community around him, coupled with his own qualities of determination, commitment and perseverance. He recognizes these traits as pivotal in guiding him through life and enabling him to achieve his current accomplishments.

Looking toward the future, Mr. Wright is determined to complete his upcoming book while achieving a successful protection outcome for the Great Bend of the Gila, a region in Southern Arizona that he has been working to preserve for over a decade. Additionally, he is committed to defending the Antiquities Act, a law established in 1906 that grants the president authority to designate national monuments. Recognizing that this law and others protecting cultural heritage are under threat, he has made it a priority to ensure their preservation. His overarching goal is to safeguard existing protections and continue advocating for heritage conservation.
