OCOEE, FL, July 31, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Monica Q. Akins has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. Ms. Akins has spent the past 24 years making a meaningful impact in nursing. Currently, she serves in the ambulatory care cardiac setting at Orlando Health, where for the past two years she has worked closely with a cardiology team to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care. Her daily responsibilities include patient and family education, facilitating care coordination, supporting physician order management, and ensuring smooth clinical operations.

Before joining Orlando Health, Ms. Akins gained experience across a variety of clinical settings, including observation units, behavioral health, home health, post-surgical units, medical-telemetry, intermediate step-down units, PACU, and even on the front lines of COVID-19 care. Her diverse background has equipped her with an exceptional breadth of knowledge and adaptability in health care environments.

In addition to her clinical excellence, Ms. Akins is a respected leader and community advocate. Since 2024, she has proudly served as President of the Central Florida Black Nurses Association of Orlando, Inc, where she leads volunteer efforts and mentorship initiatives to uplift the nursing community. She is also actively involved in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (Nu Omega Omega Chapter), the National Black Nurses Association, the Florida A&M University National Alumni Association, and is the Health Ministry Leader at Heart of Mercy Community Church. She also supports large-scale events as a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Medical Response Team.

Ms. Akins' academic foundation includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida A&M University (2008) and nursing assistant certification (including home health) from North Florida Community College (2001). Her strong belief in lifelong learning continues to drive her ambition—she is currently enrolled in Western Governors University's Master of Science, Nursing-Leadership and Management degree program, and aspires to further her leadership within the community.
