Mr. Korfhage-Poret's journey becoming an influential learning specialist began during his college days, when he managed the writing center at New School University and discovered the reward in helping students reach their full potential. He finds it incredibly fulfilling to witness the transformation of a student, particularly as there have been so many incredible success stories of individuals gaining confidence in self-directed learning and thriving as they proceed through higher education and into their careers.
Mr. Korfhage-Poret's academic background laid the foundation for his successful career. 1n 2004, He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Non-fiction Writing and Education from Eugene Lang College of New School University in NYC, after pursuing coursework in education at Brooklyn College and Tulane University. In 2005, Mr. Korfhage-Poret started his first tutoring company - Lotus Writing Tutors - which he began with a Rutgers University professor. During this endeavor, he was the editor of a screenplay for a short film that won several awards at international film festivals, as well as co-author of two fiction novels, one of which - Babylon's Tablet of Destiny - won a silver medal at the 2009 Independent Publisher Book Awards (IPPY). Mr. Korfhage-Poret has also been a contributing writer to countless other academic material and publications, including a test prep guide titled, LD SAT, published by Penguin in 2010, and designed with an understanding that there is neurodivergence in learning, so there also must be diversity in how educational material presents strategies.
Currently, Mr. Korfhage-Poret is shifting into his next transformative role as a leader in education and advocate for learning. His forthcoming guidebook, "Learning How to Learn Again: A Practical Framework for Executive Function, Responsibility and Safety in AI-Human Learning" is dedicated to bringing AI literacy to students, teachers and families, so that AI can be used as a way to enhance learning by personalizing the experience through prompting, collaborative executive functioning support and incorporating feedback. It does mean that humanity must begin looking at AI-Human learning with respect and integrity, as it holds incomprehensible opportunity for every individual. He believes that if taken seriously and used as a collaborative tool, rather than a crutch, it could truly provide equity for learners across the educational system, which is always challenged with keeping all students engaged and experiencing a dynamic where they can be inspired, not just surviving.
Mr. Korfhage-Poret's dedication to education has always extended beyond traditional methods; as he seeks to understand how learning with AI can help improve human critical thinking, encourage responsibility and accountability to self, rather than the focus on efficiency, synonymous with AI-autonomy, which developers are entranced with as a goal.
