ATLANTA, GA, August 05, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Fatima Donia Mili, MD, PhD, medical epidemiologist with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, was selected by Marquis Who's Who for a prominent feature in the June/July 2025 Atlanta, Georgia, regional issue of Fortune magazine.

Possessing over 35 years of professional excellence, Dr. Mili is a distinguished leader in health care and epidemiology. She has served the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention since 1991, after graduating from the prestigious CDC Epidemic Intelligence Service post-doctoral program. Dr. Mili has proved to be a valuable medical epidemiologist studying the causes, distributions and control of diseases in human populations, particularly within the fields of epidemiology, genetics, internal medicine and pediatrics. One of her research areas encompassed health disparities experienced by racial and ethnic minorities and underprivileged communities in the United States. Her work, in collaboration with Morehouse School of Medicine, was instrumental in 2000 in the U.S. Congress addressing health care inequality.

In addition to her present appointment, Dr. Mili has been a mentor in epidemiology and surveillance within the Division of Global HIV and Tuberculosis at the CDC since 2017 and a senior medical epidemiologist in the same division since 2016. Previously, she spent seven years as a medical epidemiologist in the Division of Blood Disorders and trained junior scientists in epidemiology and biostatistics. Moreover, Dr. Mili was an instructor for the Epidemic Intelligence Service summer course and the Epidemiology in Action course at the CDC, having also held teaching positions at Emory University and the Morehouse School of Medicine.

When the COVID-19 pandemic emerged in 2020, Dr. Mili played a significant role in leading teams of epidemiologists and statisticians to provide domestic vaccination data for developing national vaccine programs and informed COVID-19 policy decisions in the U.S. She is equally proud of her research and published articles on genetic and chronic diseases, HIV, COVID-19 and health disparities. She attributes much of her career success to a diligent work ethic and a passion for the field.

Looking ahead, Dr. Mili aims to ease into a well-deserved retirement to increase her participation in community service, consulting and teaching. Avocationally, she enjoys playing classical piano, swimming, bicycling and Mediterranean cooking with her husband. Dr. Mili is a member of the Epidemic Intelligence Service Alumni Association.

EDUCATION HIGHLIGHTS
Dr. Mili was born in Carthage, Tunisia, and relocated with her family to Switzerland at a very young age. She is multilingual and graduated with a French baccalauréat in mathematics and science with honors. She attended the University of Geneva, earning a Doctor of Medicine in 1981. Following this venture, Dr. Mili completed a Master of Public Health in epidemiology and a Doctor of Philosophy in epidemiology at Emory University in 1989 and 1997, respectively.

AWARD HIGHLIGHTS
Dr. Mili is highly recognized for her industry excellence. In 2021, she earned the Excellence in Epidemiology-Domestic and the Excellence in Emergency Response Toby Merlin Award-Domestic from the CDC. She was acknowledged with the Early Career Author Award from the Research Triangle Institute in 2004 and received the Epidemic Intelligence Service Outstanding Award from the CDC in 1991.
