RANCHO PALOS VERDES, CA, August 06, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Elizabeth Adefioye has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
With a career spanning more than three decades across four continents, Elizabeth Adefioye has not only transformed the HR function—she has redefined what it means to lead with both head and heart. A chemist by training and a humanist by calling, her journey into human resources began not in a boardroom, but in the corridors of the UK's National Health Service, where a knack for connecting people to meaningful work sparked a lifelong mission.
Ms. Adefioye's path has taken her through some of the world's most respected organizations. From pioneering cultural transformation as the first chief people officer of Emerson Electric Co., to architecting a purpose-driven people strategy at Ingredion Incorporated, where she also served as CHRO, her leadership has consistently elevated organizations—and the people within them.
Earlier in her career, she held senior HR leadership roles at Johnson & Johnson, Novartis Consumer Health, and Medtronic, earning a reputation for unlocking talent, building inclusive cultures, and enabling innovation. Her global perspective—shaped by roles across Europe, North America, and the Middle East & Africa, as well as Asia Pacific—infuses her leadership with empathy, cultural intelligence, and courage.
An advocate for education and empowerment, Ms. Adefioye has championed initiatives to advance underserved communities, including sponsoring children's education across Africa. She has served on the boards of Skills for Chicagoland's Future, United Way, Boys Hope Girls Hope, and The Opportunity Trust, living out her belief that leadership is a responsibility to lift others.
Her work has been recognized time and again: from Profiles in Diversity Journal's Women Worth Watching, to Savoy Magazine's Elite 100 Extraordinary Black Women, to being named one of Black Enterprise's Most Powerful Women in Corporate America.
Born in the United Kingdom and educated both in the UK and Nigeria, Elizabeth holds a degree in Chemistry from Lagos State University, a postgraduate degree in HR Management from University of Westminster, and completed executive studies at Harvard University and Glasgow Caledonian University and Tuck Business School.
Looking forward, Elizabeth remains passionate about shaping the future of work—not only in corporate boardrooms, but across emerging economies. Through her new ventures and advisory work, she is investing in the next generation of leaders, particularly across Africa, with a clear message: Africa's future is human—and she's betting on people.
From Lagos to London to boardrooms across the globe, this journey has been filled with purpose, people, and possibility.
