In addition to his primary role, Mr. Kelly has been the principal of Coeur d'Alene School District since 2025, having served as the assistant principal for the preceding four years. This initiative provided 1,300 students with high-quality remote education, laying the groundwork for continued online learning through Venture Academies. In 2024, he was recognized as Idaho Assistant Principal of the Year, a testament to his dedication and impact on the educational community.

Mr. Kelly's early career includes his tenure as principal of CDA eSchool from 2020 to 2025 and his time as a teacher in Southern Idaho, beginning in 2000, where he was nominated as Teacher of the Year in his district. His own academic journey includes a Master of Arts in educational leadership from Capella University in 2016 and a Bachelor of Science in secondary education from the University of Idaho in 2000.

Mr. Kelly's passion for education was influenced by his family's strong background in teaching and his love for coaching basketball and football, which he found during his first coaching job while still in college. Now, in his career in education, he is committed to supporting both his students and staff, believing that every child deserves an opportunity to succeed. He is also attuned to the development of technology and seeks to help both parents and students use digital tools to enhance education instead of hindering it.

In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Kelly is actively involved in several industry-related organizations, including the Idaho Secondary Administrator Association and the National Secondary Administrators. His civic contributions extend beyond education to his volunteer work as an excavator and dump trailer operator for local community projects. Additionally, he has coached girls' basketball and football teams for two decades.

On a personal level, Mr. Kelly attributes much of his success to his wife, whose support has been invaluable throughout his career. Together with their children, they enjoy outdoor activities like camping, fishing, hunting, skiing and hiking. In the upcoming years, Mr. Kelly aims to elevate Lake City High School by refining educational processes, enhancing the curriculum and fostering meaningful connections between staff and students.
