As the president of Sexton Design and Development, a firm she launched in 2017, she has deployed deep expertise in creating innovative and sustainable spaces. Her leadership and vision have proven instrumental in the firm's success, highlighted by her most significant accomplishment: designing Tiger Walk at Clemson University. This project, which has already become an integral part of the Clemson Game Day tradition, stands as a testament to Ms. Sexton's ability to create designs that resonate with both current and future generations.

Before opening her small business, Ms. Sexton served as director of land planning at Zuendt Engineering from 2017 to 2018. During this time, she advanced her skill set in strategic planning and project management while contributing meaningfully to the firm's growth. Prior to this, Ms. Sexton excelled as a principal at SGA Architecture from 2015 to 2017, where she led various high-profile projects to further define her reputation in the industry.

Ms. Sexton's career began with foundational roles that shaped her professional journey. From 2013 to 2015, she was a lead landscape architect at Milone & MacBroom Inc., where she developed her technical expertise and creative approach to landscape architecture. Earlier positions include serving as president of Salix Designs from 2010 to 2011 and director of landscape architecture at Site Design Inc. from 2008 to 2011. Her international experience includes working as a community liaison office coordinator at the U.S. Embassy in Brasilia from 2006 to 2007.

A passion for continuous learning motivated Ms. Sexton to pursue academic excellence. She earned a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Clemson University in 2000, and she holds certifications as a registered landscape architect from both the North Carolina Board of Landscape Architects, obtained in 2014, and the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation, which she secured in 2004. Ms. Sexton credits her success thus far to her parents, both of whom excelled as public school teachers and who instilled in their daughters a strong work ethic and fostered a lifelong desire to learn.

Ms. Sexton's dedication extends beyond her professional endeavors into civic engagement and industry involvement. She has been a commissioner for the Greenville County Museum Commission since 2017 and served as the treasurer for the South Carolina Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects from 2016 to 2019. She is also a Clemson Architectural Foundation Trustee and served on the Pickens County Commerce Park Architectural Review Board. In recognition of her contributions, Ms. Sexton was humbled to be named a South Carolina Woman in Business in 2024.

To achieve balance, Ms. Sexton spends quality time with her four children, with whom she enjoys activities such as white water kayaking, rafting and hiking. Looking toward the future, Ms. Sexton plans to persist in creating unique and beneficial spaces that enhance communities while promoting initiatives that promote the common good.
