BRUNSWICK, GA, August 12, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Nicole Fairfield has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Fairfield has established a distinguished career in water safety and aquatics, marked by more than 25 years of dedicated service and leadership. As the founder of Georgia Swim School, she has been instrumental in shaping an inclusive environment where swimming lessons are accessible to all, regardless of background or ability. Since founding the company in 2022, her school has offered instruction every day, both at its facilities and in students' homes. Her commitment to inclusivity is reflected in her mission to ensure everyone learns how to swim, and she personally oversees the training of new instructors, requiring genuine passion for teaching, current certification and liability insurance. The school's rapid growth — expanding from fewer than 150 students in its first year to 978 in its second, and then to four locations with two year-round organizations by its third year — stands as a testament to her leadership and the power of word-of-mouth reputation. Her personal mantra and that of her company is, "I want zero drownings."
In addition to her primary role, Ms. Fairfield became the owner of Brunswick CPR Lady in 2018, a company she rebranded from Coastal Health and Safety Associates, which she originally founded in 2010. Brunswick CPR Lady specializes in American Red Cross and American Heart Association-approved training and certification courses.
Ms. Fairfield's signature curriculum in her company, Joyful Waters, is the cornerstone of her educational approach. The program offers a unique swim curriculum, rooted in a Montessori-inspired, child-led approach that emphasizes emotional well-being, water safety and joyful exploration. Unlike traditional survival-focused programs, it creates a calm, supportive environment where young children build confidence and foundational water skills alongside their caregivers. The curriculum is divided into two developmental stages: First Splash (for ages 6–15 months) introduces infants to water through gentle, trust-based experiences, while Aqua Explorers (for ages 16–36 months) encourages independence with basic swimming movements, breath control and safety awareness. Parental involvement is a key component, reinforcing the skills and values taught in class. Designed to foster a lifelong love of water, Ms. Fairfield's program prioritizes positive experiences over pressure or rushed progress.
From 2019 to 2023 she worked for Pharmsource LLC. She was also co-founder of Southeast Aquatic, and she taught at Southeast Georgia Health System via a contract when she owned Coastal Health and Safety Associates, focusing on health and safety education throughout the Brunswick region.
Ms. Fairfield's mid-career includes working with indoor and outdoor pools at Golden Isles YMCA from 2012 to 2018, where she further honed her skills in aquatic program management. From 2006 to 2008, she was the aquatic coordinator at the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, overseeing lifeguard teams and swim instruction programs.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Fairfield served as a lifeguard and swim instructor at the YMCA of the Treasure Coast from 2000 to 2005. She later held aquatic coordinator roles with Glynn County Parks and Recreation as well as the indoor pool at Liberty County Armed Services YMCA in Hinesville. Additionally, she contributed as a part-time on-call instructor for the American Red Cross and served as program coordinator for the City of Brunswick's Parks and Recreation Department.
Throughout her career, Ms. Fairfield has achieved national recognition for her expertise in water safety. She is most proud of earning her American Red Cross Instructor Level Certification in 2005, a national standard that has been pivotal to her professional advancement. Her membership in The Association of Aquatic Professionals further underscores her standing within the industry.
Though Ms. Fairfield does not hold a formal college degree, her mastery of the aquatic education field rivals that of any academic professional. She is a scholar in her own right—having authored seven books, developed an original swim curriculum grounded in trauma-informed pedagogy, trained instructors across multiple regions, and launched both a successful swim school and a nonprofit organization. Her knowledge is not theoretical; it is lived, applied, and evolving—rooted in over two decades of direct service, leadership, research, and innovation. Ms. Fairfield's approach exemplifies a modern, experiential form of scholarship—one that disrupts outdated measures of qualification and redefines what it means to be an expert. Her voice in the industry is not only respected, but essential, especially as the field shifts toward inclusive, emotionally intelligent, and family-centered aquatic education.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Ms. Fairfield is deeply engaged in civic work as the founder of Safe Shores Georgia, a nonprofit organization based in Brunswick dedicated to promoting water safety. Her volunteer work includes leading water safety missions with local churches, including a mission trip to Honduras in 2016, and ongoing service as an aquatics volunteer.
Ms. Fairfield is also active as an author and content creator. Since 2021, she has hosted the podcast "Navigating Neva," sharing insights on aquatics and personal development. In 2025, she authored "Joyful Waters Course Manual: A Guide to Teaching Infants and Toddlers Water Safety and Skills" as well as "Joyful Waters Journey First Splash: A six-week adventure to building safety confidence and joy." She has published seven books available through Amazon.
In her personal life, Ms. Fairfield enjoys all aspects of aquatics both professionally and for leisure, including frequenting cold springs in Florida, paddle boarding, kayaking, boating swimming and vacationing. Looking ahead, she plans to open an aquatic facility at Safe Shores Georgia by securing a board and funding for this project. Her vision includes developing a pool that will serve as the nonprofit's main feature while collaborating with various individuals and organizations. Additionally, she aims to expand the Joyful Waters program across the United States.
