Having begun her journey at the University of California, Irvine, Ms. Taylor served as the executive director of development from 1997 to 2005. During this time, she led fundraising efforts for both the hospital and the medical school. In 2005, Ms. Taylor was appointed as the assistant vice chancellor to plan the university's major development initiatives. Her success in these positions paved the way for her next significant role at California State University, Long Beach, which spanned from 2006 to 2018 as the vice president for university relations and development. In this capacity, Ms. Taylor managed all aspects of the university's first comprehensive fundraising campaign, which exceeded its $225 million goal. Additionally, she launched the university's philanthropic foundation and served as its inaugural chief executive officer.

Ms. Taylor's academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Kansas in 1980 and a Master of Science in psychology with a focus on community clinical psychology from California State University, Long Beach, in 1983. Her education laid the foundation for her career in nonprofit work and philanthropy, influenced by her mother's extensive involvement in the nonprofit sector.

Ms. Taylor's dedication to professional fundraising is further evidenced by her active membership in industry-related organizations, such as the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Beyond her professional achievements, she is actively involved in civic-minded organizations, such as Women & Philanthropy at California State University, Long Beach, and 44 Women for Orangewood. She also serves as a mentor within the Association of Fundraising Professionals, emphasizing the importance of mentorship throughout her career, and remains active with various alum associations.

Eager for the future, Ms. Taylor plans to continue writing and providing advice to nonprofit leaders and fundraisers about fundraising strategies. By focusing on writing, she aims to amplify her message and make a broader impact on the field of philanthropy.
