In this capacity, he oversees a $170 million hospital expansion program in Northeast Phoenix, acting as the owner's representative and managing all aspects of construction. His expertise in directing sales, marketing and operational efforts for health care renovation projects in Arizona is widely recognized, honed over many years in the construction industry beginning in the field when he was 17. His commitment to excellence is further evidenced by his membership in the American Society for Health Care Engineering.

Prior to his current position, Dr. Christensen served as director of construction at HDC from 2018 to 2021. His previous tenure at McGough Construction as director of health care services from 2016 to 2018 allowed him to further develop his leadership abilities and deepen his understanding of the health care sector.

For the preceding three years, Dr. Christensen was a senior project manager at Skanska USA Building Inc., where he played a pivotal role in overseeing significant construction initiatives. His earlier experience as an SSG leader at DPR Construction Inc. from 2008 to 2013 included leading the renovation project of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Arrowhead Hospital, a project he considers one of his most notable achievements due to its complexity and sensitivity.

Dr. Christensen's academic background has been instrumental in his professional success. He earned a Doctorate of Business Administration with a focus on evidence-based design in health care construction from the University of Phoenix in 2018. This advanced degree, along with his Master of Business Administration from Drake University in 1996 and Bachelor of Arts from Iowa State University in 1993, provided him with a solid foundation in business principles and strategic thinking. Additionally, his title as a certified health care constructor from the American Hospital Association in 2013 underscores his commitment to maintaining high standards in his field.

Dr. Christensen's contributions to the industry have been recognized with various awards, such as the Vista Award for Renovation from the American Society for Healthcare Engineering in 2013 and the Interior Renovation Project Of The Year from John C. Lincoln Health Network in 2011. Beyond his professional endeavors, he is also actively involved in civic organizations. He has been a board member of Helping Hands for Freedom and has supported the Make-A-Wish Foundation since 1990.

In his personal life, Dr. Christensen enjoys playing golf, traveling and spending time with his family, including his three children and two grandchildren.
