Since 1980, Ms. Thompson has worked for the Mount Vernon Estate & Gardens, the former residence and plantation of George Washington, beginning as a museum attendant.

Thompson, research historian emerita at George Washington's Mount Vernon, has been selected for a cover feature in the Eighteenth Edition of Marquis Millennium Magazine. Since 1980, Mary V. Thompson has worked for the Mount Vernon Estate & Gardens, the former residence and plantation of George Washington, beginning as a museum attendant.
