She began her aviation career as a flight attendant with BOAC in 1966.

Academically, Ms. Kearns' background includes coursework at Fairleigh Dickinson University and a high school diploma in geography from Charlton Park Convent in Cheltenham, United Kingdom, completed in 1958 before she immigrated to the United States. Furthering her industry expertise, she is an active member of The Africa Tourism Association.

Reflecting on her career, Ms. Kearns credits her success to her education and the freedom to pursue her passions. She was also supported by both her parents, viewing her father as a mentor and drawing inspiration from her mother's fifty-year tenure running a restaurant, driving her own love of cooking. Growing up in diverse locations like Rome, London, Paris, Hong Kong, and Sydney further enriched her appreciation for global cuisine and culture.

Beyond her primary career pursuits, Ms. Kearns has demonstrated a strong commitment to civic engagement and education. In 2012, she contributed as a leopard research assistant with Ingwe Leopard Research, supporting wildlife conservation efforts. She has also mentored local high school students and taught basic cooking classes to young learners, sharing her knowledge and fostering new generations of culinary enthusiasts.

In her personal life, Ms. Kearns enjoys a wide range of hobbies, including playing tennis, collecting art, sailing, skiing, hosting events and ballet dancing.
