OAKLAND, CA, August 15, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jeremiah Irvin Tolbert II has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
A sought-after architect and educator, Mr. Tolbert serves as the principal at Tolbert Design Architects, a role he has held since 2010. With a full career spanning over 20 years, he has established himself as an expert in creating spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional and sustainable. His dedication to excellence and his ability to envision and execute complex design projects have earned him high praise within the industry. Under Mr. Tolbert's leadership, in fact, Tolbert Design Architects has become renowned for its innovative commercial and residential designs.
Beyond his firm, Mr. Tolbert is deeply committed to education and mentorship. 12 years ago he co-created a free week-long summer architecture youth camp for underrepresented middle school students of color called New World Architects Camp. Through hands-on design practice, real-world site visits, and professional guidance, the camp ignites the students' imagination and confidence and empowers them to become positive agents of change through design.
In addition to his camp, he also co-created and teaches a design ethics course at UC Berkeley entitled, "The Ripple Effect: The Community Design Process." This class is an evolution of his summer camp with a focused age group of college students along with underrepresented high school students. The class is called "The Ripple Effect" because he teaches and prepares the Cal students for the realities of the real world and in turn they teach and mentor the high school students and prepare them for higher education. Collectively the entire class participates in helping a Black-owned small business or non-profit in West Oakland through a design/build project. The high school students win by receiving college credit and a college-age mentor. The Cal students win by learning through teaching and having a real-world portfolio project and professional practice experience to add to their resume separating them from the rest of their cohort. Finally, the community wins by receiving a professionally designed/completed project for free! These two educational initiatives reflect Mr. Tolbert's dedication to community engagement and his belief in the transformative power of mentorship.
Mr. Tolbert's academic background laid the foundation for his professional achievements. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley, in 2004 after completing an associate of arts at West Valley College. In addition to his solid academic foundation, Mr. Tolbert attributes his success to his faith and trust in Jesus Christ, which has guided him throughout his career and personal life.
Building on his professional accomplishments and educational experiences, Mr. Tolbert is a family man with a beautiful wife and three beautiful daughters. He envisions continuing his work within the community over the coming years, furthering his impact through ongoing projects and initiatives that benefit both individuals and society at large. His goal is to sustain the momentum of his contributions while nurturing the next generation of creatives through education and mentorship programs.
