Ms. Martineau is a distinguished entrepreneur and store owner of Where'd You Get That? in Beaufort, South Carolina, a role she has held since early 2023. Her journey into retail ownership was fueled by a lifelong passion for home décor and thrifting, which she transformed into a thriving business. Upon acquiring the store, which had operated for 17 years under previous ownership, Ms. Martineau immediately recognized its potential. She reimagined the nearly 4,000-square-foot space, opening up the layout and curating merchandise to create an inviting atmosphere that encourages sustainable and stylish home decoration. She is quick to give credit to her very supportive staff; they were instrumental in assisting in these efforts. Ms. Martineau hands-on approach includes arranging merchandise, managing daily operations, responding to customer inquiries and coordinating deliveries and pickups.

Under her leadership, Where'd You Get That? has become a well-known destination in the community, earning accolades such as Best Consignment Store in Beaufort County for 2024 and recognition among the Top 10 consignment stores in South Carolina. The store also received second place for Best Furniture Store and was nominated for the Star Award. Ms. Martineau is particularly proud of purchasing both the business and its building, fulfilling a long-held ambition to own and operate a premier consignment store.

Prior to her entrepreneurial venture, Ms. Martineau built a diverse professional background. She spent several years in global medical device sales with BD, where she traveled extensively across various states. This role allowed her to develop a keen eye for unique finds during her travels—a hobby that would later influence her business philosophy.

Before entering sales, Ms. Martineau worked as a registered nurse, primarily in cardiology but also caring for medical-surgical, postoperative, oncology and spinal surgery patients at a psychiatric hospital. She found her work in cardiology especially rewarding and is proud of her contributions to patient care during this period.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Martineau served as a unit secretary at a psychiatric hospital and managed B. Dalton Bookseller, where she gained valuable experience in retail management and customer service. She also worked in advertising, further broadening her skill set.

Ms. Martineau's academic achievements include earning a registered nurse degree and completing college coursework in advertising. She graduated from West Islip High School in 1979. Her professional credentials are further supported by certifications from the Beaufort County Senior Leadership Program, legal nurse consultant training and an active nursing license.

Her commitment to community service is evident through her volunteer work providing relocation guidance with the Beaufort County Senior Leadership Program, serving as a donor to the St. Francis Center on St. Helena Island and coordinating small workshops within the local community. Ms. Martineau credits her success to the unwavering support of her family and her faith, which she believes have guided her journey at every step. She is grateful for her husband's instrumental role in facilitating the acquisition of her business and values the encouragement of her children—both of whom are accomplished adults—and the joy brought by her mother and grandson.

Outside of her professional commitments, Ms. Martineau enjoys cooking, gardening, exercising and spending time with her family. Looking ahead, she aims to continue elevating Where'd You Get That? while pursuing expansion opportunities within Beaufort's retail landscape. Her vision includes developing a bridal business in another local building and eventually delegating daily responsibilities to a management team as the business matures.
