MIAMI, FL, August 19, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Fernando I. Manotas-Jaramillo has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
From his tech company, LAFIG LLC, Mr. Manotas-Jaramillo currently serves as chairperson of Alca Avionics Inc., a position he has held since 2020. With a focus on regional air mobility, he leads the transformation of the company through product innovation and the development of data-enabled support systems. Spearheading the strategic advancement of next-generation avionics and integrated platforms, he plays a significant role in revitalizing air transport services by fostering a more balanced approach between profitability and customer service.
Drawing on his expertise in both aviation and business, Mr. Manotas-Jaramillo is dedicated to rebuilding trust in an industry that he feels has shifted away from passenger care. His vision includes developing software tools to integrate different platforms, serving better the general aviation community as well as underserved regional and rural communities, thereby reconnecting millions with accessible, efficient air travel and promoting a value-driven aviation ecosystem.
Prior to reaching his current role at Alca Avionics, Mr. Manotas-Jaramillo was an air transport industry expert from 2017 to 2019. During this period, he made significant contributions to the company's growth by leveraging his in-depth understanding of business development architecture and his ability to create simple, actionable, and scalable solutions for complex industry challenges. Notably, his leadership and innovative thinking also helped Central Aerospace achieve a 15% reduction in maintenance, repair, and operations costs, as well as a 25% increase in productivity simultaneously.
Before relocating to the United States, Mr. Manotas-Jaramillo served as president of Helicentro S.A.S. in Colombia, where he was responsible for steering organizational strategy and operations in helicopter sales, maintenance, and engineering solutions for Bell Helicopter Textron. Over the course of five years, he worked at Helicol-Pas — which develops and implements national and global air transportation services — as a senior research adviser for the air transport industry from 2011 to 2013 and as the global business development manager from 2008 to 2011. In these roles, he oversaw innovative product developments and designed a new maintenance cost management model for the company.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Manotas-Jaramillo served as the director of sales engineering at Brackley Consulting & Finance Services Ltd from 2002 to 2008, during which he supported the technical needs of aerospace and defense industry clients. From 1998 to 2002, he was the director of operations at Aerobrokes Group Colombia, overseeing daily operations and ensuring regulatory compliance within a dynamic aviation environment. He began his career as a senior crew planner at American Airlines from 1992 to 1997, where he successfully designed and implemented new flight sequences, resulting in an 85% increase in flight attendant productivity.
Widely recognized for his outstanding contributions within the aviation sector, Mr. Manotas-Jaramillo has received several accolades, including the Hispanic Stars Rising Award from We Are All Human in 2024, as well as special congressional recognition from the United States House of Representatives in 2023. His influence throughout his time in Colombia has been acknowledged with the Business Leader distinction from La Nota Economica in 2016, inclusion among Mount Colombian's Top 500 Executives in 2016, and being named Employee of the Year at Aerobrokers Magsind in 1999.
Mr. Manotas-Jaramillo's academic background includes advanced studies equivalent to a Master of Arts in applied mathematics, with a specialization in non-linear dynamic systems and operations research, from Universidad Sergio Arboleda in Bogotá, Colombia (2008), supported by studies in computational mathematics for engineering. His passion for mathematics began in adolescence, when he taught himself advanced math and computer programming after helping classmates grasp algebra, physics, and calculus. This early self-driven learning evolved into a lifelong commitment to analytical problem-solving and innovation. This early fascination soon merged with his passion for aviation when he joined the Colombian Aviation Administration Bureau (now UAEAC) in 1989, at a time when he was a prodigy in coding programs in BASIC and solving numerous technical issues. He attributes much of his professional growth to a lifelong passion for learning—a quality he considers more valuable than any label of prodigy or genius—and emphasizes continuous curiosity as essential for achieving success.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Manotas-Jaramillo supported humanitarian programs with the Colombian Military Forces. In his personal life, he enjoys spending quality time with his family, learning how to play the bass guitar, reading books, and watching movies.
Looking toward the future, Mr. Manotas-Jaramillo is committed to addressing a better balance within the air transport industry by cultivating greater recognition and opportunity for underserved communities — particularly empowering inland and rural populations through tools that support economic development and entrepreneurship. His ongoing goal is to build a more balanced and inclusive aviation ecosystem that values both service and accessibility equally.
Throughout his distinguished career of more than three decades, Mr. Manotas-Jaramillo has been recognized for his ability to humanize complex technical challenges. By listening to those often overlooked in the technical community, he has cultivated an increase in customers as well as more capable professionals, bridging the gap between technical rigor and human insight. His career serves as a testament to his expertise as a business development architect, excelling at converting complex problems into simple solutions while maintaining a commitment to ethical leadership and community impact.
