From 2023 to 2024, Ms. Sims-Hamilton was vice president of finance and operations at The Solutions Project. During her tenure, she played a pivotal role in financial planning and resource allocation for initiatives supporting environmental justice and community resilience. Notably, she contributed to the development of the Justice40 Accelerator, a technical assistance program designed to support frontline nonprofit organizations in securing and preparing for federal funding. Under her leadership, the program benefited 151 organizations across 38 states and United States territories, facilitating approximately $150 million in funding within less than three years—a milestone she regards as her most significant professional achievement.
Between 2021 and 2023, Ms. Sims-Hamilton held the position of vice president of operations at Partnership for Southern Equity. She oversaw operational strategies that advanced equity-focused programs throughout the southern United States. Her leadership ensured effective resource management and fostered collaborative partnerships with stakeholders.
In 2020 to 2021, Ms. Sims-Hamilton served as deputy director for the City of South Fulton, Georgia. She managed municipal operations and implemented policies aimed at enhancing community development and public services.
Ms. Sims-Hamilton's earlier roles with the City of Atlanta included director of operations and planning for federal programs as well as director of the Office of Housing & Community Development from 2019 to 2020. She was responsible for overseeing federal grant administration and housing initiatives that addressed critical community needs. From 2018 to 2019, she was assistant director of economic development, where she facilitated business growth and workforce development projects. As an economic development project manager from 2017 to 2018, she coordinated significant urban revitalization efforts.
In 2016, Mrs. Sims-Hamilton contributed her expertise as a legislative aide with the Georgia House Democratic Caucus in Atlanta, supporting legislative research and policy analysis.
Her commitment to regional planning was evident during her service as an advisory board member for the Atlanta Regional Commission from 2015 to 2018.
Entrepreneurial pursuits have also defined Ms. Sims-Hamilton's career. From 2009 to 2021, she was the owner and founder of Cafe Good Spot Catering & Events by CGS, LLC, where she managed all aspects of business operations.
Her academic involvement includes positions as student affairs officer, researcher and recruiter at Georgia State University from 2009 to 2013.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Sims-Hamilton gained valuable experience in hospitality management as general manager, training manager and sales manager with Applebee's Restaurants LLC, Olive Garden under Darden Concepts Inc., Fuddruckers Restaurants, and Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen Inc., from 1999 to 2009.
She began her professional journey as a CSA II assistant (underwriting) at USF&G Insurance—now The Travelers Indemnity Company—from 1997 to 1999.
Ms. Sims-Hamilton's foundation in discipline and financial acumen was established during her military service as a financial analyst with the United States Marine Corps from 1995 to 2003. This experience provided her with a strong sense of duty and precision that continues to inform her professional approach.
Her expertise in creative finance, as well as development and fundraising, is widely recognized within her field. She is an active member of the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce, reflecting her ongoing engagement with industry peers.
Ms. Sims-Hamilton's educational background has been integral to her success. She earned a Master of Public Administration from the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University in 2011, following a Bachelor of Arts in sociology with a concentration in race and ethnic relations in 2009.
