Beyond his administrative roles, Mr. Muñoz has also contributed to higher education. He was an adjunct professor of Spanish at Virginia Wesleyan University from 2012 to 2016, building on his initial teaching experience in Latin-American dance at VWU, which began in 1998. Earlier in his career, he demonstrated his commitment to educational improvement as an administrative intern and assistant principal with Virginia Beach City Public Schools between 2012 and 2019, and as a school improvement specialist from 2009 to 2012. Mr. Muñoz's classroom teaching career began in 2002 as a Spanish teacher with Portsmouth Public Schools, and in 2004, he continued teaching Spanish with Virginia Beach City Public Schools.

Before embarking on his educational career, Mr. Muñoz worked in government as a probation officer with the Sheriff's Office in the City of Chesapeake, Virginia, from 2000 to 2002. His service in the U.S. Navy shaped his foundational experience as a petty officer third class between 1995 and 1999, during which he developed discipline and leadership skills that have been instrumental throughout his career.

Mr. Muñoz's academic achievements include a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice and Spanish from Virginia Wesleyan University in 2001 and a Master of Arts in education and human development from The George Washington University in 2012. He is a current member of the New Chesapeake Men for Progress Educational Foundation. An organization which mission is to provide educational scholarships, mentoring, and other educational programs and services to the youth in the City of Chesapeake. His passion for community engagement is complemented by personal interests.

Mr. Muñoz's expertise in school administration and leadership is widely recognized, earning him recognition as a finalist for the Teacher of the Year Award by Virginia Beach City Public Schools in 2006 and receiving the Hispanic Heroes Award in 2016. He attributes much of his success to the influence of his family, particularly his mother, who pursued a master's degree while raising four children as a single parent. Her perseverance and dedication have inspired Mr. Muñoz's commitment to education and leadership.

Looking ahead, Mr. Muñoz aims to continue advancing in leadership roles while remaining directly involved with students and teachers within the school setting. He remains deeply committed to providing immediate support for students and families, a dedication deeply rooted in his own experiences. Having immigrated to the United States at the age of 15 with his mother and sibling, Mr. Muñoz personally navigated the significant challenges of learning a new language and culture. These formative experiences now fuel his passion to inspire others on their own educational journeys, showing them that obstacles can be overcome.
