SAN JOSE, CA, August 21, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Shaquille K. Tillman has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As with all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals are chosen based on current reference value. Factors such as professional position, notable accomplishments, industry visibility, and leadership prominence are all considered during the selection process.
Mr. Tillman has cultivated a distinguished career in the nursing profession, underscored by a steadfast commitment to advancing patient care and leading through education and innovation. As a senior clinical development nurse at Kaiser Permanente, he has played a pivotal role in fostering a culture of clinical excellence within the Intensive Care Unit and Telemetry departments. Since June 2025, he has served as a nursing professional development specialist, acting as a clinical educator, consultant, change agent, and leader. His work focuses on evidence-based education, competency development, and professional growth strategies that enhance both patient outcomes and staff engagement.
Prior to this role, Mr. Tillman began teaching as an adjunct instructor at Samuel Merritt University in 2023, where his passion for education is fueled by personal experiences that shaped his awareness of disparities in healthcare. He aims to equip the next generation of clinicians with both technical knowledge and the values of compassion, dignity, and equity. He currently serves as an assistant professor, teaching advanced medical-surgical nursing in the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program. From 2022 to 2025, he served as a patient care manager at Stanford Health Care, where his values-driven leadership inspired high-quality service and consistently positive patient outcomes. His contributions were recognized with the inaugural BEAM Team Equity Award in 2024.
Mr. Tillman's journey at Stanford Health Care began in 2019 as a clinical nurse II, a role he held until 2021 before being promoted to assistant patient care manager. His commitment to patient safety and quality care was evident in his ability to drive innovation and increase staff engagement. His leadership earned him the 2020 Nurse of the Year Award. Before joining Stanford, he served as a clinical nurse II at the Regional Medical Center of San Jose from 2018 to 2019. Between 2013 and 2018, Mr. Tillman gained wide-ranging clinical experience through work with various staffing agencies, serving across numerous specialties—including critical care, emergency medicine, outpatient surgery, medical-surgical, telemetry, step-down, long-term care, rehabilitation, and long-term acute care. This diverse background provided a strong foundation for his adaptability, clinical acumen, and patient-centered approach in high-complexity care environments.
Mr. Tillman's academic achievements have played a pivotal role in his professional growth. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education in Healthcare Administration and Management at Aspen University, with an expected graduation in 2026. He previously earned a Master of Science in Nursing Informatics (2022) and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (2017), both from Aspen University. His educational journey began with an Associate of Science in Software Applications and Programming from ITT Technical Institute, followed by an Associate of Science in Nursing from Fortis College in Columbia, South Carolina.
His professional certifications reflect a strong commitment to clinical and leadership excellence. Mr. Tillman holds the Nurse Executive Advanced Board Certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, as well as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications from the American Heart Association. Additionally, he is credentialed in the NIH Stroke Scale and holds the Progressive Care Nursing Certification (PCCN) from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.
Beyond his clinical and academic roles, Mr. Tillman maintains active involvement in numerous professional organizations, including the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, American Nursing Informatics Association, National Black Nurses Association, American Organization for Nursing Leadership, Association for Nursing Professional Development, Association of California Nurse Leaders, and the American Nurses Association. His civic engagement includes serving as board member and secretary for the Silicon Valley Black Nurses Association and volunteering with organizations such as Second Harvest of Silicon Valley Food Bank, the Native American Health Center, and other community-based initiatives.
Outside of his professional commitments, Mr. Tillman enjoys traveling internationally, walking, hiking, and indulging in spa treatments like massages and facials. He also values time spent with friends through wine tastings or dining out, and he frequently returns to South Carolina to visit family. Looking ahead, he is focused on obtaining his Nursing Professional Development certification while completing his doctoral studies. His ultimate goal is to secure a regional director role focused on education, clinical quality, and patient safety—providing executive-level guidance to ensure high standards of care are upheld across healthcare systems.
