In 2023, he began serving as an assistant clinical professor at Northeastern University, where his responsibilities include overseeing graduate students, delivering guest lectures on trauma-informed care, counseling, rapport building, neurodiversity, and gender-affirming voice care. Dr. Goldberg's expertise in these areas has positioned him as a leading authority in the field.
Before being named an assistant clinical professor on campus, Dr. Goldberg initially served as a visiting assistant clinical professor, contributing to curriculum development and student mentorship. Beyond his work in the academic setting, he has been instrumental as the founder of Transformative Consulting. Established in 2012, the company focuses on education and advocacy related to intersex/transgender issues and inclusive communication practices. Dr. Goldberg has also been at the helm of The CREDIT Institute since 2021, serving as the president and executive director of the organization, which is dedicated to advancing equity in healthcare, housing and higher education. He has also developed mentoring programs for new voice clinicians, and mentors people from around the world.
Dr. Goldberg's expertise in gender-affirming voice care is widely recognized. He has educated thousands internationally and organized the world's largest conference on gender-affirming voice care. He is currently regarded as the most invited guest speaker in his profession, a distinction he has maintained for several years, demonstrating his international reach and influence.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Goldberg served as a speech-language pathologist at Somerville Public Schools from 2007 to 2022, providing direct support to students with speech and language needs. In 2021, he expanded his clinical experience as a voice-specialized speech/language pathologist with Well Said: Toronto Speech Therapy. In 2022, he began working with Prismatic Speech Services, helping people achieve vocal congruence through thoughtfully tailored clinical services. Additionally, Dr. Goldberg holds a certificate of clinical competence in speech-language pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and a Massachusetts professional teacher's license in speech, language and hearing disorders for all levels from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. He is licensed in both the US and Canada.
Dr. Goldberg's academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts from Vassar College, a master's degree in speech-language pathology from Boston University, and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Oxford. These academic achievements have provided a strong foundation for his clinical practice, research endeavors and educational leadership.
Beyond his education, Dr. Goldberg's professional affiliations include membership in the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the World Professional Association for Transgender Health. Meanwhile, his civic engagement includes serving as a founding member of the Trans Voice Initiative.
A prolific author, Dr. Goldberg has contributed extensively to professional literature with works such as 'Our Transgender Language Choices Make All the Difference' in ASHA Leader Magazine in 2019, 'Is Your Practice Welcoming and Inclusive of All Genders?' in ASHA Leader in 2022, and 'Physical Features Contributing to Gender Dysphoria: The Role of Voice' published in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery in 2025, as well as numerous other influential articles and several peer-reviewed articles in his area of expertise.
Dr. Goldberg's commitment to service has been recognized through numerous awards and accolades. He was honored with an Outstanding Service Award from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association in 2022, received a Special Recognition Award from Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences in 2023, and was nominated for the ASHA Fellow Award in 2025, among others.
As someone who is intersex/transgender and disabled, Dr. Goldberg is committed to creating opportunities for others by advancing initiatives that support individuals who have not had access to the same advantages he has throughout his career. He recognizes the importance of advocating for health equity among neurodivergent individuals and ensuring that individuals from all backgrounds can achieve their goals. Eager for the future, Dr. Goldberg will be featured in an upcoming Netflix documentary titled "The Dads," which profiles his work and includes footage of him delivering a keynote address at Trans Harvard.
