SHERMAN OAKS, CA, August 22, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Terry F. Miller has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Hailing from a remarkable five decades of leadership at the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, Ms. Miller most recently served as its assistant superintendent from 2018 to 2025. Overseeing more than 40 schools during the 2024-2025 school year, she was responsible for ensuring that each institution maintained proper budget allocations, responding promptly to emergency communications such as student and teacher issues and arranging monthly meetings with principals to discuss agendas and address school needs. A hallmark of her career has been her immediate and thoughtful responses to inquiries from principals and staff, a quality that has earned her widespread respect throughout the educational community.
Ms. Miller was the assistant superintendent for the Santa Barbara region of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles from 2018 to 2024. She oversaw approximately 21 schools during this period, providing guidance on administrative matters, supporting school leaders and ensuring the effective operation of each institution under her purview. Her leadership during a departmental restructuring was vital in maintaining stability and continuity across the region's Catholic schools.
From 2016 to 2018, Ms. Miller contributed her expertise as a human resource executive for schools within the Archdiocese of Los Angeles central office. In this role, she managed personnel matters for approximately 250 institutions, supporting administrators and staff with human resources guidance and policy implementation to ensure best practices throughout the region.
Ms. Miller's two-decade tenure as principal from 1992 to 2013 stands as a testament to her dedication to educational leadership. During these years, she cultivated strong relationships with faculty, students and parents — including many high-profile families — emphasizing that all parents share similar hopes for their children's education regardless of their background or celebrity status. She frequently reminded her colleagues that principals play a crucial role in fostering teacher satisfaction, which directly impacts student happiness and parental engagement.
Before starting her administrative journey, Ms. Miller began her career in 1973 as a teacher within the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, where she spent 20 years instructing students and developing her pedagogical skills. Her foundational teaching experiences shaped her approach to educational administration and provided valuable insights into classroom dynamics as she guided multiple generations of students along their academic path.
Also a sought-after public speaker, Ms. Miller has presented at teacher conventions across the United States, including delivering one of her most popular talks at the National Catholic Educational Association titled "The Top 10 List," which outlined strategies for keeping teachers motivated and engaged.
Ms. Miller's own academic achievements have played a significant role in her professional success. Her journey into education was influenced by her early aspirations during her high school years, when she enjoyed assisting at elementary schools and teaching children. After graduating from high school, she entered a convent where all members were educators; this environment further inspired her pursuit of teaching credentials in 1973, which led her to obtain a Bachelor of Arts in education from Mount Saint Mary's University and a master's degree in school administration from California Lutheran University. In the 1980s, she made the decision to leave the convent while continuing her vocation as an educator.
Born in Tacoma, Washington, while her father served on active duty during the Korean War, Ms. Miller is the eldest sibling in a close-knit family that has long valued public service and community involvement. Along with her upbringing, she attributes her enduring success to her availability, willingness to learn and ability to offer sound advice — qualities that have defined her interactions with colleagues and school communities alike. Now she has happily retired after completing five decades of service and enjoys shopping, walking her dog in the park and spending quality time with her friends.
Looking to the future, Ms. Miller plans to travel extensively and is considering volunteering or consulting within Catholic schools. She has expressed interest in mentoring new school principals so they may benefit from her knowledge and experience as they embark on their own careers. Her legacy is reflected not only in her professional accomplishments but also in the countless educators, students and families whose lives she has touched throughout 50 years of dedicated service to Catholic education in Los Angeles.
