ROSEDALE, MD, August 26, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Janice R. Claxton has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Demonstrating unwavering professionalism and expertise in workflow administration, Ms. Claxton has established a remarkable career spanning nearly 40 years in health and human services. Since 2012, she has served as a health insurance specialist with the Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services in Woodlawn, Maryland, where she is responsible for uploading all information into the facility's workflow system, collaborating with vendors and coordinating appointments between clients and management to discuss systems and software needs. Her role requires meticulous attention to detail and a broad understanding of administrative processes, which she has mastered over her tenure.

Prior to reaching her current position, Ms. Claxton held the title of medical program specialist at the Department of Health and Human Resources in Baltimore, where she managed sensitive client information, policies and guidelines and ensured compliance with federal mandates. In 2012, she advanced her career as a health insurance specialist at CMS at the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene in Baltimore, where she supervised on-site program operations and recommended corrective actions to management figures. Her earlier experience as a medical care program specialist from 1989 to 2012 further solidified her expertise in health care administration, policies and procedures.

From 1989 to 1996, Ms. Claxton contributed her skills to case management at the Department of Human Resources in Baltimore. In this role, she conducted face-to-face interviews with clients facing critical challenges such as evictions, food insecurity or utility shutoffs, managing emergency grants and providing timely assistance to individuals in need. She considers her ability to remain calm and professional under pressure — especially when clients are upset or distressed — as one of her most significant achievements.

In addition to her accomplishments throughout health and human services, Ms. Claxton is recognized as an expert in workflow administration and is a successful author. She published the acclaimed book "Skeletons In My Closet" through Kingdom Publishing Company in 2017, a deeply personal account of the challenges she has faced throughout her life and a guide for others facing similar obstacles.

Ms. Claxton's academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in business administration and management from the Merrick School of Business at The University of Baltimore, earned in 1986. Along with her education, she attributes much of her success to the values instilled by her father during her upbringing after the loss of her mother at a young age. She continues to honor his lessons by giving back to others through both her professional work and community involvement.

Known for her longstanding dedication to civic-minded endeavors, Ms. Claxton volunteers with the Brighter Stronger Foundation — a behavioral health service provider that aims to help individuals in need become more independent — and previously served as the director of children's ministry at New Creation Christian Church for a decade. Additionally, she has mentored young women through Big Brothers & Big Sisters of America and volunteers for school drives.

Born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Ms. Claxton is deeply committed to her family life. She is a proud mother of four children — two biological children and two adopted children whom she welcomed into her family when they were four and five years old, respectively. Hailing from a large family that includes six siblings, she also has a twin sister, J.C. Outside of her professional responsibilities, she enjoys writing, composing songs, singing, dancing and exercising five days a week.

Looking to the future, Ms. Claxton aspires to establish an adult daycare center designed for families who prefer not to place their elderly relatives in traditional care facilities. The initiative will be a family-run business where she intends to train younger family members to provide compassionate care — a reflection of her belief that quality of life is enhanced by happiness, family connections and meaningful activities. After four decades of success, she continues to maintain exceptional professionalism with her clients and colleagues while making significant contributions to both her field and community.
