CHESAPEAKE BEACH, MD, August 26, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Candace A. Campbell (Candy to her friends) has been included in Marquis' Who's who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. With more than 40 years of excellence to her credit in her chosen field, Dr. Campbell has found success in exerting a positive impact on the healthcare system through strategic leadership. In this capacity, she is the owner, Chief Visionary Officer, and President of Peripatetic Productions, dba as Candy Campbell & Company, which she established in 1995. In this capacity, she works with industry leaders to proactively generate changes in the system, providing in person and virtual keynotes, workshops, and individual coaching for her clients. Since 2003, she has also distinguished herself as a subject matter expert and legal nurse consultant in women's health and neonatology.

Outside of her primary efforts in health care, Dr. Campbell has been a professional union member of SAG-AFTRA since 2008, serving as an actor and voiceover artist. She is also a theatrical talent with The Wayne Agency, with offices in Los Angeles, D.C., and Atlanta. She has previously worked as a commercial talent for Boom M&T Agency from 1993 - 2019 and co-founded the Barely Insane Players, an improv and stand-up comedy troupe, in 1993, in the San Francisco Bay area. She has taught applied improvisation retreats and workshops, since 1995.

Her acting resume includes her three solo plays, "Whatever Happened to MY Paradigm?" "Full Frontal Nursing: A Comedy With Dark Spots," and the recent "Florence Nightingale: The Reluctant Celebrity," which has played off-Broadway, in 11 states, and 3 countries.

Prior to embarking on her current path, Dr. Campbell earned a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communications with an emphasis in Theatre/Acting and minor in Education from the University of Puget Sound in 1970. After that, Dr. Campbell began her career as a flight attendant and public relations representative for Pan American World Airways in 1971. Following the 'call to be a nurse,' she attained the Associate of Arts degree to become a Registered Nurse at El Camino College in 1979. She studied Film and Media Production at Diablo Valley College from 1999-2001. Thereafter, she received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2008 and a Master of Science degree in Healthcare Systems Management, and Public Policy in 2010, both from Loyola University New Orleans. In 2014. She also completed a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Leadership, Communication, and Public Policy from the University of San Francisco.

Her professional journey as a Registered Nurse and clinical educator, began in 1979, and in 2005 Campbell became the Program Nurse Educator for the Northern California Newborn Hearing Screening Program for the California Department of Children's Health, During this time she worked to evaluate and certify 120 northern CA hospitals. In 2010, she served as an adjunct faculty member with California State University for a year, while functioning as a staff nurse, patient and hospital clinical educator with John Muir Health from 1992 to 2012. She also served as Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing and Health Professions at the University of San Francisco from 2010 to 2019. Following this, she served as the President and Chief Executive Officer for Lead4Excellence, a healthcare educational consulting firm, from 2020 to 2021.

Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, Dr. Campbell earned an Advocacy Fellowship from the American Nurses Association in 2010 and has served on the United Nations Global Health Advisory Council for the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing in 2011-2012.

Meanwhile, she served on the American Nurses Association/California Chapter as a healthcare advocate, speaker, and Legislative team analyst from 2005-2019 and was elected to the ANA Membership Assembly, Wash. DC several times as a representative of nurses in the state of California.

She has served the community regarding women's health on the Women's Health Advisory Board for California, 2017-2018, as a Board Member of Options for Women crisis pregnancy center, from 2011-2017, and was inducted as a Fellow of the National Academies of Practice in 2015.

Campbell also lent her expertise as the Dean of the Speaker's School and President of the Northern California chapter of the National Speakers Association. When she moved to the east coast, in 2019, she served as the Associate Dean of the Speaker's School in the Washington, D.C. chapter through 2022.

Well qualified in the many facets of her work, Dr. Campbell is certified in acting from the ACT Conservatory and holds a Certificate in Professional Speaking from the NSA Speakers Academy. She is a Certified Nurse Leader with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing and a Certified Educational Provider with the California State Board of Registered Nurses and has also functioned as a Legal Nurse Consultant. In 2020, she earned a Certificate as a Virtual Presenter.

Over the course of her career, Dr. Campbell has contributed a great deal of research to nursing, as well as theatre. She combines her theatrical talents with her deep knowledge of healthcare to provide a unique perspective in both fields. She was appointed as a Media Spokesperson for The March of Dimes, Northern California from 2009-2012, and the John Muir Health Systems Speaker's Bureau, from 2008 – 2012. She was inducted into The Nightingale Society of Research Historians in 2018.

Campbell has authored eight books, including the best-selling, "My Mom Is a Nurse," listed among the Top 100 books in Children's Literature by Amazon in 2005 and 2006. This book has also been translated into Japanese in Spanish to reach a wider audience. "Good Things Come in Small Packages: I Was a Preemie," and "My Grandma Is a Nurse," followed, distributed by Peripatetic Publishing in 2009. In 2016, she authored, "Channeling Florence Nightingale: Integrity, Insight, and Innovation," based on her reading of most of Nightingale's 200 books/articles and over 10,000 of her letters. The book is a glimpse at the stage play she created and includes several instances of how Nightingale's life influenced the author.¬ Next came, "Improv to Improve Healthcare: A System for Creative Problem-Solving" in 2018 and 2022 (2nd ed.), then "Improv to Improve Your Leadership team: Tear Down Walls and Build Bridges," with Business Expert Press in 2023, and "The Amazing Life of Florence Nightingale: The Reluctant Celebrity," published by Tremendous Leadership in 2025. The last book is a historical novel, based on true events of the author's life and the stories of many Vietnam veterans she interviewed in the year 1997-1999, called "Walking Point."

As an academic subject matter expert, Dr. Campbell has authored peer-reviewed and editorial articles. These have been published in: Nursing for Women's Health (2011), Creative Nursing Journal and National Institute of Health (2014), Nursing for Women's Health (2016), Forbes Magazine (2018), Nursing Educator (2019), Healthy Simulation (2020), The INSider - Infusion Nurses Society Journal(2020), Speaker Magazine - National Speakers Association(2020), The VOICE- Association of Nursing Leadership (2022), Speaker Magazine (2022), Training Industry Magazine (2023), NAP Times Journal, National Academies of Practice, (2023), UPS Arches Magazine (2024), , Nursing Centered Magazine, STTI Honor Society of Nursing (2024), Speaker Magazine (2024), Compliance Today(2024), Medical-Surgical Monitor (2025).

Also, as a member of the Editorial Advisory Board for the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nursing, wrote many articles for their two publications in the years 2010-2018.

As a fine artist, Campbell honed her painting skills over many years in traditional art classes and private tutoring with several internationally known figurative artists, including Edward Runci, Richard Heichberger, Ted Goerschner, Denise Burns, and Wm. F. Reese. Her work has been seen in galleries on the West Coast and recognized in local, regional, and international juried art shows.

For several years, Campbell's visual art took a backseat to performance art. However, now that she has attained the status of "recovering academic" she's picked up the paintbrush again and sparked new collections, garnering new awards and has been featured in Artistonish Magazine.
