Ms. Bernardi is a distinguished professional currently serving as the deputy portfolio director at Impetus, a pioneering venture philanthropy foundation, a role she has held since 2022. Her career at Impetus began in 2010 when she joined as an investment director, a position she held for over a decade. During her tenure, Ms. Bernardi was instrumental in finding, funding and building a portfolio of over 20 high-performing non-profits who transform the lives of youth from disadvantaged backgrounds, by providing them with the necessary support to succeed in school, work and life. Through the combination of strategic expertise and long-term funding, Ms. Bernardi helps non-profits grow their impact in a measurable way.

Before moving to the non-profit sector, Ms. Bernardi worked as a strategy consultant in the private sector. She began her career at the global management consulting firm, The Boston Consulting Group, where she held the roles of associate, consultant and project leader from 1995 to 2002. Ms. Bernardi then moved to Fremantle, a media production company in London, where she held the role of strategy manager between 2003 and 2005. She went to the become a partner at Panthea Leadership, from 2005 to 2008 and an associate partner at Eden McCallum LLP in 2009 where she led their pro-bono practice, partnering with Impetus and other firms.

Academically, Ms. Bernardi holds a first-class undergraduate degree in politics, philosophy and economics from the University of Oxford, graduating in 1995. In 1999, she received a Master of Business Administration from Kellogg, Northwestern University.

In addition to her professional achievements, Ms. Bernardi has been actively involved in various trustee roles that reflect her commitment to social impact and community development. Since 2024, she has served as a trustee across 13 schools which are a part of Authentic Education. She is a member of the education subcommittee and the finance subcommittee of the trust. Ms. Bernardi's previous trustee roles included serving Unlocking Potential from 2018 to 2022, which supports children with social, emotional and mental health needs. Between 2016 and 2019, she was a trustee for Second Chance, an organization dedicated to economic empowerment through education for unemployed young adults. She also served as a trustee for Naz Project London, a sexual health charity between 2011 and 2014.

In recognition of Ms. Bernardi's contributions to advancing social impact, she was nominated as a LEAP ambassador in 2017, a global network of professionals promoting high performance in the non-profit sector. Ms. Bernardi's leadership was also recognized with the prestigious Queen's Award for Leadership and Innovation in 2021.
