Mr. Scales has established himself as a distinguished professional in the fields of accounting, construction, and real estate. As the controller at J.G. Coram Company, Inc. in Mount Airy, North Carolina, since 2023, he is responsible for handling account receivables, banking, and financial decisions. He also oversees payroll activities weekly, manages employee benefits plans, and supervises office operations. His role extends to managing the financial aspects of his businesses, maintaining books for three enterprises, managing closing rent, evaluating tenants, and scheduling property flips.

In addition to his role at J.G. Coram Company, Inc., Mr. Scales has been a co-owner of The Chill Mobile in State Road, North Carolina since 2023. He has been the owner of SMS Cottages, LLC and SMS Properties and Reynolds, LLC since 2020. His entrepreneurial spirit is evident in these ventures as he continues to expand his influence in the business world.

Mr. Scales' career began with Federal Financial Services in Elkin, North Carolina, where he served as a collection manager from 2011 to 2013 before becoming a branch manager in 2014. He then transitioned to a financial assistant role from 2014 to 2017 and later became the director of operations from 2017 to 2018. His leadership skills were further honed when he served as chief operations officer from 2018 to 2020. During this time, he also worked as a financial representative at Northwestern Mutual in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in 2018.

Mr. Scales' academic journey laid a strong foundation for his career achievements. He earned an Associate of Science in business administration and accounting from Surry Community College in 2012. He then pursued a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Gardner-Webb University in 2015 and completed his Master of Business Administration with a focus on business administration, management, banking, and finance from the same institution in 2017. His dedication to academic excellence was recognized with the Frank Bonner Academic Excellence Award at Gardner-Webb University in 2017.

Mr. Scales' commitment to community service is reflected in his numerous civic roles. Since 2024, he has served as vice chair of the Board of Education for Surry County Schools and board treasurer for Surry Medical Ministry. He is also a member of the board of directors for United Fund of Surry Inc., where he previously held the position of treasurer from 2021 to 2024. Additionally, he has served as treasurer for GIVE A KID A CHRISTMAS and advisor for YES Surry since 2023.

Mr. Scales' dedication to his profession and community was recognized when he was named Young Professional of the Year by the local Chamber of Commerce in 2024. This award serves as a testament to his hard work and commitment to making a positive impact.

Mr. Scales attributes his success to his desire to succeed and help others, stemming from a challenging childhood that motivated him to pursue a different path. Inspired by his parents' blue-collar backgrounds—his mother worked in textiles while his father was involved in construction—he became the first in his family to graduate high school and pursue higher education.

Looking ahead, Mr. Scales aims to continue growing his personal businesses with the goal of achieving financial independence through them.
