With a rich background in government investigations, Ms. Vamvakas previously served extensively with the United States Department of Labor's Office of Labor-Management Standards (OLMS). Joining the department in 1987 as an investigator, she ascended the ranks to Northeastern regional director in the Senior Executive Service, the highest non-appointed level, where she served from 2017 to 2021. There, she led nationwide criminal and civil enforcement programs, overseeing six field offices across 11 U.S. states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and played a key role in expanding union democracy by removing corruption and holding union officials accountable. Throughout her career, Ms. Vamvakas has exemplified unwavering dedication in upholding standards of democracy and fiscal responsibility in both public and private labor organizations.
Among her many accomplishments, Ms. Vamvakas has been noteworthy for leading high-profile investigations into the embezzlement of union funds, fiduciary breaches, reporting and record-keeping violations, and other white-collar crimes. In addition, she handled complex election fraud cases, many of which were resolved through federal supervised elections. Notably, her region proclaimed the highest number of criminal indictments, underscoring her affinity for combating financial fraud and corruption. In addition to her roles in investigations and compliance, Ms. Vamvakas contributed extensively to the OLMS Criminal Manual and developed training materials for agency personnel. She has maintained professional alignment with organizations such as the Federal Law Enforcement Foundation and the National Law Enforcement Associates. She also serves on professional boards including the IFraud Foundation.
Prior to her current role with Andromeda Advantage, Ms. Vamvakas was the senior vice president of human resources, compliance and integrity at Red Apple Group in New York City from 2021 to 2023. There, she provided executive guidance across human resource operations, compliance and integrity functions, shaping policies and practices to meet legal and regulatory standards. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Business Administration, cum laude, from Baruch College in 1987. She also holds a Certified Fraud Examiner credential from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners since 2017. Specializing in financial transactions and fraud schemes, law, investigation, fraud prevention and deterrence, Ms. Vamvakas' expertise has been instrumental in spearheading complex anti-corruption investigations.
