SAINT MARYS, GA, August 29, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to honor Peter R. Spanos with inclusion in Who's Who in the World. An accomplished listee, Mr. Spanos celebrates many years' experience in his professional network and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Spanos, a distinguished principal at Offit Kurman since 2025, has established himself as an expert in labor and employment law as well as nonprofit legal matters. With a career spanning nearly five decades, he is recognized for his innovative strategies, leadership and unwavering commitment to his clients and the legal profession. In his current role, Mr. Spanos continues to focus on labor relations, providing comprehensive counsel to a wide range of organizations, including both for-profit and nonprofit entities across various sectors. His expertise encompasses union negotiations, collective bargaining and addressing grievances related to field labor practices. Recently, Mr. Spanos guided clients through the regulatory changes introduced by executive orders from the Trump administration, helping them understand and adapt to the new compliance requirements.
Mr. Spanos previously served as a partner at several other law firms, including Taylor English Duma LLP in Atlanta from 2020 to 2025, Akerman LLP in Atlanta between 2019 and 2025, which was marked by significant contributions to the firm's labor and employment practice group, where he provided strategic guidance on high-stakes matters affecting both public and private sector employers, and Barnes & Thornburg LLP in Atlanta from 2013 and 2019. He also served as a partner at Burr & Forman LLP in Atlanta starting in 2003, where his decade-long service included advising major corporations on workforce management issues and representing them before federal agencies and courts. Earlier in his career, Mr. Spanos was a partner and shareholder at Littler Mendelson in Atlanta between 1997 and 2003.
As a founding partner of Spanos & Rochelle from 1994 to 1997, Mr. Spanos demonstrated entrepreneurial acumen by establishing a boutique firm focused on labor law and employment relations. This venture followed his role as founding partner of Hendrick, Spanos & Phillips in 1981, where he also served as a managing partner between 1984 and 1992. In these capacities, he led teams that handled significant cases, shaping regional labor practices.
Mr. Spanos began his legal career as an associate and later partner at Stokes & Shapiro in 1976. It was during this formative period that he achieved early success with a specialized construction firm by taking on a complex antitrust case involving the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Mr. Spanos's innovative use of antitrust challenges against attempts by the Brotherhood to levy fees on electrical contractors nationwide set him apart as a young associate willing to tackle complex legal issues.
In preparation for his future, Mr. Spanos earned a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from Harvard University in 1970 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in 1976. While pursuing his law degree, he served as the editor-in-chief of the University of Michigan Journal of Law Reform. Mr. Spanos was admitted to practice by the D.C. and Georgia Bar Associations, the U.S Claims Court and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Throughout his career, Mr. Spanos has been an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Bar Association, the Atlanta Bar Association, and the Lawyers Club of Atlanta, among others. Beyond his professional pursuits, he has contributed extensively to civic organizations, having previously served as an outside general counselor for a nonprofit trade association, participating on the labor and employment law council for Associated General Contractors, holding a seat on the board of directors for Reflections Ministries, and, among other involvement, serving on the parish council at Saint Christopher Hellenic Orthodox Church. Today, Mr. Spanos remains a member of the Harvard Club of Georgia.
Mr. Spanos's excellence has been recognized through numerous honors, including the Sarah Honigman Memorial Award from the University of Michigan, an AV Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and inclusion among Best Lawyers in America. He attributes much of his success to the early opportunities afforded by mentors who recognized his potential and entrusted him with significant responsibilities soon after he graduated from law school.
Looking ahead, Mr. Spanos remains dedicated to guiding clients through ongoing changes in labor laws while fostering productive employment relationships across industries. He is also committed to supporting nonprofit organizations whose missions align with his values. Through decades of service marked by innovation, integrity and leadership, Mr. Spanos continues to shape the landscape of labor relations while inspiring colleagues across the legal community.
