ELKO, NV, August 29, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Vern Goglio has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Marked by progressive leadership roles and a commitment to advancing both operational excellence and workforce development, Mr. Goglio has achieved a remarkable five decades of success in the mining industry. Since 2017, he has served as a senior manager at Cementation USA Inc., where he collaborates closely with new supervisors, superintendents and managers. In this capacity, he facilitates leadership sessions, presents various management theories and engages in practical discussions, working alongside team members during their shifts to foster effective leadership skills.

Prior to joining Cementation USA, Mr. Goglio was a senior manager of the Nevada Underground Development Group at Barrick Mining Corporation from 2014 to 2016 — the culmination of more than 25 years at the firm. During this period, he established a new subsidiary company and spearheaded a team that was responsible for managing capital drift development for upcoming projects.

From 2008 to 2014, Mr. Goglio managed the underground division at Barrick Mining. He is particularly proud of his tenure managing the Cortez Underground Mine in the Elko, Nevada, area, where he developed the operation from its inception. This accomplishment stands as one of his most notable achievements and reflects his ability to lead complex projects from the ground up. For more than a decade, he held the position of underground superintendent of mining, where he was responsible for overseeing daily mining activities, implementing safety protocols and optimizing production processes. From 1990 to 1996, he was the mine production supervisor at Barrick North America, where he oversaw a talented crew of over 100 miners at the company's Goldstrike open-pit gold mine.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Goglio worked as a miner and mine engineer at Tenneco Minerals Company from 1982 to 1990. His responsibilities included hands-on mining operations as well as engineering tasks that supported site productivity and safety. From 1981 to 1982, he held the title of walking boss at Frontier-Kemper Constructors Inc. in Wyoming, where he supervised crews on major construction projects at Tenneco Minerals. He began his journey as a mine engineer and production foreman at Anaconda Copper Company from 1978 to 1981, supervising production crews in drilling, blasting and mucking efforts while maintaining the highest standards of safety. He worked as a miner underground at FMC's Westvaco trona mine starting his career in May of 1975 while going to college.

Beyond his operational leadership contributions, Mr. Goglio is also committed to educating the general public and fostering future talent within the field. He collaborates with Mining Minds — an industry-based podcast hosted by Dino Brunson and Derek Grover — on an initiative that engages with grade school and high school students by visiting schools to inspire interest in careers within mining.

Mr. Goglio's academic foundation includes a Bachelor of Science in mining engineering from Montana School of Mines & Technology, earned in 1978. Growing up in Green River, Wyoming — a community deeply rooted in mining — he was influenced by local industry practices from an early age. His decision to pursue formal education in mining engineering was shaped by firsthand experience with dash drone mining and a desire to contribute meaningfully to the field.

A pivotal moment in Mr. Goglio's professional development occurred following a tragic experience that transformed his perspective on workplace safety within the mining sector. He observed that while safety was often discussed among miners during his early years in the industry, it was not always effectively practiced — a reality that has since changed significantly due to evolving standards and increased awareness. To stay abreast of the latest developments and best practices, he has been an active member of industry organizations such as the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration and the Nevada Mining Association.

In recognition of his accomplishments and advancements in the industry, Mr. Goglio was named Miner of the Year by the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration in 2021 and was previously selected for inclusion in Who's Who Among American High School Students in 1972.

Happily married and a proud father of three, Mr. Goglio enjoys outdoor hobbies such as gardening, hunting and fishing in his personal life. He cherishes spending time with his children and grandchildren and finds creative expression through writing poetry about the mining industry and his personal experiences within it.

Looking toward the future, Mr. Goglio intends to continue his work until he feels ready for retirement, finding fulfillment in helping others develop their skills and understanding through mentorship and guidance. His legacy is defined by resilience — surviving 50 years in a demanding profession — and by his unwavering commitment to elevating standards and safety within the mining community.
