RUIDOSO, NM, September 04, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Michael Mussachia has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Mussachia has led a highly accomplished career spanning 65 years, culminating in his retirement in 2013. For more than two decades, he served as a professor of philosophy at San Diego State University, beginning in 1990 and continuing until his retirement. During this period, he also held the role of professor of philosophy at San Diego Mesa College from 1990 to 2013, contributing to both institutions concurrently. His tenure at these universities was marked by a commitment to academic excellence and the mentorship of countless students who went on to achieve success on their own path.

Prior to these appointments, Mr. Mussachia was a member of the faculty at San Diego City College from 1988 to 1990, during which he further honed his teaching skills and deepened his engagement with philosophical inquiry. In addition to his primary academic roles, he served as an associate professor at Madison University during the 1996 to 1997 academic year and as an adjunct professor at National University in San Diego in 1995.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Mussachia owned and operated a high-end audio business, blending entrepreneurial initiative with his passion for technology and innovation. His international experience includes serving as an assistant professor at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden from 1979 to 1980, during which he contributed to the institution's academic environment and engaged with colleagues on global perspectives in science and philosophy.

Mr. Mussachia began his academic career as an assistant professor of physics at the University of Maryland from 1969 to 1970. During this time, he was deeply involved in both the civil rights movement and the anti-Vietnam War movement. Extending his advocacy into political activism, he actively supported campus workers — predominantly Black Americans — in their efforts to unionize, marching alongside them despite opposition from university administration.

Before venturing onto his professional path in academia, Mr. Mussachia completed coursework at the University of California, Irvine Campus in 1967 after attending the University of Grenoble in France in 1965 and University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1964. The opportunities afforded by his upbringing in Southern California played a significant role in shaping his path; growing up in Whittier Hills with access to quality education and family support enabled him to pursue higher learning without material deprivation. He credits much of his success to these advantages, acknowledging that being born into privilege shielded him from many societal prejudices.

Mr. Mussachia's scholarly pursuits were influenced by leading figures such as Professor Charles Meisner at the University of Maryland, whose expertise in general relativity theory aligned with Mr. Mussachia's interests in particle theory. This rewarding academic environment fostered his growth as a physicist and later as a philosopher specializing in the ideas within science and cognition.

Also an accomplished author, Mr. Mussachia is most proud of completing "The Savior: A Scientific, Theological and Sexual Fantasy," a comprehensive 13-volume science fiction series he began writing after his retirement from teaching. Relocating to Ruidoso, New Mexico — a small mountain town known for its natural beauty — he found inspiration amid tranquil forests and abundant wildlife. The first volume, "The Amazing Mutant Boy," along with subsequent entries, is available on all major digital platforms in eBook, paperback and audiobook formats. The decade-long project was enriched by the editorial partnership of Diane Martin, whose technical expertise and intellectual companionship were pivotal throughout the writing process.

In addition to his accomplishments in the fiction realm, Mr. Mussachia has conducted research for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) on solar plasma flow and published several academic works through Cengage that are now accessible on Amazon and Kindle platforms.

Born in Glendale, Mr. Mussachia continues to enjoy writing and maintains an active lifestyle through hiking and exploring nature — pursuits that reflect both his professional interests and personal passions. Looking to the future, he aims to promote his books across various platforms now that they are complete. His journey from nurturing the minds of future generations as a professor to entertaining audiences worldwide through his writing reflects a legacy of making a meaningful impact through everything he does.
