BATON ROUGE, LA, September 09, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Edward A. Schoen III has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Schoen has established a distinguished reputation marked by significant achievements in both business and education, as well as dedicated service in the United States Army. In 2004, he began serving as a dyslexia therapist with the Pleasant Grove Independent School District, contributing his expertise in language therapy to support students. From 2008 to 2015, he excelled concurrently as a teacher and dyslexia therapist at The Brighton School, an institution recognized for its focus on remediating dyslexia. During this time, Mr. Schoen played a pivotal role in supporting students with learning differences, drawing upon his specialized training and personal dedication to the field.
Before initiating his career as an educator, Mr. Schoen owned and operated Schoen Olds-GMC, Mazda, Isuzu from 1997 to 2003. Entering the automotive industry with no prior experience, he first purchased a 10 percent stake in the dealership; through strategic leadership and business acumen, he subsequently acquired full ownership of the dealership and later sold it for an impressive profit. This venture stands as a testament to Mr. Schoen's entrepreneurial spirit and small business leadership.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Schoen served honorably in the United States Army. Assigned to the Adjutant General Corps at Fort Rucker in Alabama as a second lieutenant, he led the top reenlistment program in the continental United States during a challenging period at the end of the Vietnam War. In this capacity, Mr. Schoen was responsible for retaining helicopter pilots who would go on to serve overseas, a role that required exceptional leadership and organizational skills.
Mr. Schoen also boasts exceptional academic credentials. He completed coursework at Loyola University New Orleans between 1967 and 1968 and later earned a Bachelor of Science in history from Louisiana State University in 1972. Notably, he also completed a Juris Doctor from Louisiana State University in 1977. Mr. Schoen's early education included graduating as the valedictorian from St. Paul's in Covington, a college preparatory school, a milestone made possible through the support of his extended family following the loss of his father.
Mr. Schoen's transition into dyslexia therapy was influenced by both personal interest and family encouragement. After selling his dealership and spending time pursuing leisure activities such as golf, his wife—an accomplished educator and principal—encouraged him to become involved in dyslexia education. When her school launched a new dyslexia program but could not find an available therapist, Mr. Schoen stepped into the role and quickly discovered a deep sense of fulfillment working with students facing learning challenges. He subsequently obtained certification as a certified academic language therapist through the International Dyslexia Association, further solidifying his expertise in this area.
Throughout his career, Mr. Schoen has been recognized for his civic engagement and community involvement. He is affiliated with Webb Memorial Golf Course and is a retired member of the Rotary Club. His contributions have been honored with two Paul Harris Fellow awards from the Rotary Club—a reflection of his commitment to service above self. Additionally, during his tenure as a car dealer, Mr. Schoen was proud to earn trips to destinations including Hawaii, the Caribbean, Europe, Africa and the Mediterranean.
Mr. Schoen attributes much of his success to adaptability, resilience and the enduring support of his extended family during formative years. As the eldest of seven children, he benefited from their encouragement and assistance with educational opportunities that shaped his character and ambitions. Mr. Schoen is the father of two daughters and takes pride in his grandchildren's academic pursuits; notably, his oldest grandchild is entering Louisiana State University as an engineering freshman, while others are progressing through high school and junior high school.
