SULPHUR, LA, September 10, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Roishetta Sibley Ozane has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Ozane has established herself as a dedicated leader and advocate for community development, with a career defined by her commitment to supporting vulnerable populations and advancing environmental justice. As the chief executive officer of the Vessel Project of Louisiana since 2020, she has played a pivotal role in assisting community members with essential needs such as food and childcare assistance. Her pragmatic approach includes providing direct cash support, remaining available for emergencies at all hours and championing clean air and water initiatives to address pollution. Ms. Ozane regularly attends community meetings, city council sessions and hearings, and she proudly hosts monthly town halls and volunteers to organize voter registration and educational events.

Ms. Ozane's leadership was especially evident in the aftermath of Hurricanes Laura and Delta, as well as Winter Storm Uri. During these crises, she helped mobilize resources through crowdsourcing and donations to secure temporary hotel accommodations for more than 300 individuals. Her sustained efforts facilitated the transition of these individuals into Federal Emergency Management Agency trailers and ultimately into permanent housing, culminating in stable living conditions for the final group of 60 people after nearly five years of dedicated support. These achievements reflect Ms. Ozane's broad expertise in organizing, outreach and fundraising.

From 2023 to 2025, Ms. Ozane served as the Gulf Fossil Finance coordinator for Texas Campaign for the Environment. In this capacity, she co-founded the Gulf Fossil Finance Hub to empower communities affected by pollution from the oil and gas industries. The hub's mission is to encourage banks and insurance companies to divest from polluting projects and reinvest in local communities, and Ms. Ozane was proud to facilitate credit union memberships for residents, arrange meetings with bank executives and major corporations such as Costco, and secure donations from companies including Patagonia. Notably, under Ms. Ozane's guidance, the hub became an independent organization.

Ms. Ozane also partnered to launch the FellaShip Breakfast in 2022, where through 2025, she helped foster community engagement through regular gatherings focused on mutual support and resource sharing. Concurrently, she acted as the organizing director at Healthy Gulf (formerly Gulf Restoration Network), leading advocacy campaigns addressing environmental health issues across the region from 2021 through 2023. Ms. Ozane's foundational professional experience includes a decade as a teaching assistant with Calcasieu Parish School Board from 2011 to 2021, where she contributed to educational development and student support. From 2009 to 2011, Ms. Ozane thrived as a community outreach specialist at Delta Health Center Inc., focusing on public health initiatives.

Through productive collaboration with local volunteers and professional organizations, Ms. Ozane has built a robust network to support her initiatives, and her mission is supported by sustained membership in several organizations, including the Women's Earth Alliance, which recognized her as a fellow, the Alpha Phi Sigma Criminal Justice Honor Society, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., the National Association of University Women and McNeese Black Alumni.

Exceptional academic credentials further define Ms. Ozane's presence in her field. She earned an Associate of Arts in business administration and management from Strayer University and a Bachelor of Arts in behavioral sciences from McNeese State University. She subsequently pursued graduate studies and now holds a Master of Science in criminal justice/law enforcement administration, also from McNeese State University, and Ms. Ozane is currently pursuing doctoral coursework in criminal justice at Walden University.

Ms. Ozane actively seeks opportunities for civic engagement, and since 2005 has volunteered with the American Red Cross to provide disaster relief services. She has also served as a volunteer and part-time staff at Oasis – A Haven for Women and Children since 2018, and from 2007 to 2010, she worked as a youth program coordinator for AmeriCorps VISTA. Her many meaningful contributions have been recognized through numerous awards, including being designated as the Listener of the Year by Climate Listening Project and the Louisiana Organizer of the Month by Louisiana Lefty and Bayou Brief. Additionally, Ms. Ozane was honored as a She Leads Fellow with the Power Coalition of Equity and Justice.

Ms. Ozane attributes her success to the influence of her family heritage as a relative of Fannie Lou Hamer and her upbringing in Ruleville, Mississippi. Inspired by her grandmother's ongoing community involvement at age eighty and her mother's dedication to helping others, Ms. Ozane values family support and draws strength from the example set by the women in her life. As a mother of six children—half of whom are now adults—Ms. Ozane will persist in being a motivational force and role model to others by teaching resilience and encouraging others to pursue their aspirations.

Looking toward the future, Ms. Ozane is focused on completing her doctorate while advancing her plans to establish a community resilience hub to extend essential resources during crises along the Gulf Coast. Ms. Ozane also intends to launch a consulting firm aimed at empowering young minority single mothers to create their own organizations and pursue higher education.
