Dr. Byers's accomplishments have been recognized through several honors, including being named Teacher of the Year by the Santee School District in 2016.

LAKESIDE, CA, September 11, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Stacy Lyn Byers, EdD, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. Dr. Byers has established a distinguished career in education, marked by nearly three decades of dedication to student achievement and teacher development. Since 2025, she has served as the curriculum and instruction teacher for Santee School District, where her responsibilities include meeting with teachers across grade levels, coaching educators on mathematics instruction and task selection, and assisting the principal in ensuring comprehensive support for faculty. Dr. Byers is deeply involved in mentoring both new and veteran teachers, focusing on enhancing instructional practices, increasing student-to-student discourse and fostering a more student-centered classroom environment. Her efforts are directed toward helping teachers formulate strategies that encourage deeper mathematical discussions among students.

Initially hired by the district in 1996, Dr. Byers spent over 25 years as a teacher from 1996 to 2025. During her extensive tenure, she gained recognition for her expertise in mathematics and science instruction, as well as her leadership in the field of education. Dr. Byers consistently demonstrated a commitment to making mathematics accessible to all students, regardless of their initial confidence or skill level.

During her tenure, Dr. Byers played a pivotal role in launching an innovative program that integrated iPads into classroom instruction, while working as a curriculum resource teacher in Santee School District between 2015 and 2018. She also taught language arts through grade eight, as well as science and history, demonstrating versatility across multiple disciplines. Additionally, Dr. Byers led a leadership class designed to help students develop essential leadership skills.

In 2020, Dr. Byers was selected as a fellow in the NOYCE/MSTI Master Teacher Fellows Program, a project of San Diego State University's Center for Research in Math and Science Education supported by the Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. This prestigious fellowship spanned five years, recognizing her leadership in mathematics education and providing opportunities to mentor new teachers further, thereby reinforcing her belief that teaching is a continually evolving profession that requires advocacy for all children.

Dr. Byers' academic background has been instrumental in shaping her approach to education and leadership. Following her undergraduate work, she earned a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from San Diego State University in 2002 and a Doctor of Education in PK-12 educational leadership with a focus on school leadership from the same institution in 2025. Dr. Byers also holds credentials to teach mathematics, language arts, science and history.

Active in her professional community, Dr. Byers's professional affiliations include membership in the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the Mathematical Association of America, the Association for Women in Mathematics, the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators and the California Mathematics Council.

Beyond her professional commitments, Dr. Byers is actively engaged in civic life within her community. She volunteers with Off-Broadway Live Theater in Santee and supports local families through the Santee Santas Foundation. As a member of Kiwanis International, she contributes to service initiatives that aim to improve the lives of children and families.

Dr. Byers's accomplishments have been recognized through several honors, including being named Teacher of the Year by the Santee School District in 2016. She attributes her success to her personal drive and genuine love for learning, which has motivated her to take on challenges throughout her career.
