Dr. Gallagher has established a distinguished career in trauma intervention and clinical social work, marked by a commitment to supporting families and individuals through complex life transitions. As founder and clinical director of CG Counseling since 2023, she has focused on working with adults on parenting and related matters, providing specialized trauma-focused therapies like Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and Cognitive Processing Therapy. She supervises 14 licensed master social workers as they pursue full licensure, ensuring the next generation of clinicians is well-prepared for the demands of the field. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, she occasionally serves as a social work professor, sharing her expertise with students and professionals alike.
In her current role, Dr. Gallagher also offers parenting facilitation and mediation services for families navigating divorce in Texas. Drawing from her dissertation research on trauma, attachment and the parent-child connection, she helps families understand the dynamics at play during these sensitive times. Her training in interpersonal neurobiology through the Mind Site Institute further informs her approach, allowing her to integrate cutting-edge research into practical support for clients.
Prior to founding CG Counseling, Dr. Gallagher served as a mental health clinical director at the Children's Advocacy Center of Central Texas from 2022 to 2023. In this capacity, she led clinical initiatives aimed at supporting children and families affected by trauma, building on her expertise in trauma intervention. During the same time, she was a counselor III at STARRY, after serving for three years as a counselor II, where she provided therapeutic services to children and families. Between 2019 and 2021, she worked as a therapist at UHS, delivering mental health care to diverse populations with a focus on evidence-based practices for trauma recovery.
Dr. Gallagher's early career includes teaching and case management with the Killeen Independent School District from 2018 to 2019, where she supported students' academic and emotional growth. She also completed a school-based social work internship with the Austin Independent School District in 2018. Before entering clinical practice, she worked at the Navy Federal Credit Union for five years, earning recognition as outreach team captain and top rookie producer with the Navy Federal Financial Group.
Before entering social work, Dr. Gallagher completed service as a combat medic and health care specialist in the Army National Guard from 2009 to 2014. This military background inspired her transition into social work after witnessing firsthand the mental health challenges faced by veterans and active-duty soldiers. She has also contributed to academia as a supervisor at National University, where she mentored emerging professionals in the field.
Educationally, Dr. Gallagher's achievements are extensive and have played a pivotal role in shaping her career trajectory. She earned a Doctor of Education in community care and counseling with a focus in traumatology from Liberty University in 2025 and holds a master's degree in social work from Our Lady of the Lake University, graduating in 2018 with a grade point average of 3.9. She also completed a Bachelor of Applied Science in business administration and management from Texas A&M University–Central Texas and an Associate of Arts in general studies from Central Texas College, where she graduated with honors. She has furthered her extensive knowledge through formal training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Cognitive Processing Therapy training and emergency medical technician certification.
Throughout her career, Dr. Gallagher has earned numerous honors for excellence, including the Army Achievement Medal from the Texas Army National Guard, a certificate of appreciation from the U.S. Air Force Recruiting Service and distinguished student recognition from Texas A&M University–Central Texas. Additionally, she has been recognized for academic achievement, leadership and professional performance through membership in the SALUTE Veterans National Honor Society and top producer awards in the financial services industry.
Additionally, civic engagement has been central to Dr. Gallagher's life. She served as a mentor for the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors in 2011, providing support to those grieving military loss, and acted as funds custodian for the Family Readiness Group Funds Custodian program that same year.
Reflecting on her career, Dr. Gallagher attributes much of her success to the unwavering support of her husband Edward, an instrumental figure who has provided encouragement throughout her academic pursuits and professional endeavors. The lessons learned through personal experiences, such as co-parenting after divorce, have informed her compassionate approach to helping others navigate similar challenges.
Inspired by an early interest in psychology nurtured by her aunt during formative years and galvanized by experiences as a combat medic, Dr. Gallagher chose to pursue social work as a means of making meaningful change for individuals facing adversity. Outside of her professional commitments, she enjoys engaging in arts and crafts with her children, practicing Pilates, participating in jiujitsu, walking in nature with her daughters and traveling together as a family.
Looking ahead, Dr. Gallagher is dedicated to developing tools that enhance clinical social work supervision while expanding consulting efforts focused on co-parenting strategies that foster strong parent-child attachments after divorce. Her ongoing research continues to inform best practices that help families remain healthy so children can thrive even amid significant life changes.
