ARDMORE, PA, September 15, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Richard G. Bickel, FAICP, senior advisor with Econsult Solutions Inc., was selected by Marquis Who's Who for a prominent feature in the July 2025 New York City regional issue of TIME magazine.

Drawing upon more than 40 years of professional experience, Mr. Bickel is well-regarded for his expertise in land use, transportation and urban planning. Since 2014, he has thrived as a senior advisor at Econsult Solutions Inc., a real estate analysis, economic development and public policy consultancy. With a wealth of knowledge and vocational experience in public planning, he has dedicated his career to upholding public interest by assisting individuals and communities with plans, implementation activities, projects and studies. He has further served as a reliable mentor for emerging professionals in the field.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Bickel worked with the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC) in Philadelphia between 1984 and 2014. He spent 15 years as associate director of the Strategic Planning Division from 1984 to 1990 and from 1998 to 2013, including eight years as director of long-range planning at the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA). He commenced his career in 1971 as a community planner at the Montgomery County Planning Commission, advancing through the ranks until his departure as an associate director in 1984. Mr. Bickel concluded his career at DVRCP as director of planning in 2014 upon his retirement.

Civically engaged as well, Mr. Bickel was a chapter president and committee member of the American Planning Association (APA). Notably, he established an annual scholarship for planning students in Pennsylvania, where he worked in collaboration with the state APA chapter to aid students in their pursuit of becoming professional planners. In addition, Mr. Bickel served as a committee member of the Transportation Research Board and was a site visitor for the Planning Accreditation Board. He has also participated with the American Institute of Certified Planners and the Urban Land Institute.

Looking ahead, Mr. Bickel endeavors to continue his role with Econsult Solutions Inc., as well as remain active in professional circles to remain abreast of developments in the realm of public planning. He also wishes to participate in national and state conferences and meetings.

EDUCATION HIGHLIGHTS
Mr. Bickel is highly educated, having attended the University of Pittsburgh. First receiving a Bachelor of Arts in 1969, he subsequently achieved a master's degree in urban and regional planning in 1972.

AWARD HIGHLIGHTS
Notably, Mr. Bickel is recognized as a fellow of the American Institute of Certified Planners. He received the Governor's Award for Local Government Excellence in 2005 and, most recently, earned the Distinguished Service Planning Leadership Award from the Pennsylvania chapter of the APA in 2015. In 2009, he also earned the title of Outstanding Site Visitor from the Planning Accreditation Board.
