Widely recognized for her expertise and leadership, Ms. Diehl has carved a distinguished career spanning four decades in consumer care and customer service. Since 2022, she has served as the director of consumer care at Freshpet, where she oversees global customer experience operations across the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. In this capacity, she manages an internal team and leads a contact center that has grown from five to over 30 employees under her direction. Her responsibilities include answering questions from pet parents about nutrition and feeding, as well as training and coaching teams on empathy and effective communication.
Prior to joining Freshpet, Ms. Diehl was the manager of consumer advocacy for the global retail division of Blue Diamond Growers in Sacramento, California, from 2016 to 2022. In this role, she developed strategies to enhance consumer interests across North America.
From 2002 to 2016, Ms. Diehl contributed significantly to Orbitz Worldwide in the Greater Chicago Area as the manager of customer relations and social media engagement for the Americas. During a period of rapid digital transformation in the travel industry, she played a pivotal role in shaping customer engagement strategies to align with the modern age.
Ms. Diehl's earlier experience includes nearly 15 years at McCord Travel Management, where she advanced to become the senior operations manager for on-site services from 1987 to 2001. She began her career in the travel sector with a small family-owned agency before moving into corporate travel management, laying a strong foundation for her future achievements.
Determined to make an impact beyond her primary roles, Ms. Diehl currently serves on the advisory board for the Women in Leadership Program at the University of San Francisco School of Management, contributes to the communications workstream for the Global Alliance of Pet Food Association and chairs the public relations committee for the Pet Food Institute.
Also heavily involved with the Society of Consumer Affairs Professionals in Business (SOCAP International), Ms. Diehl was a director on both national and regional boards from 2015 to 2023, board chair from 2019 to 2021, board advisor for the national education committee from 2015 to 2019 and president of the Chicago chapter from 2012 to 2015. Additionally, she was a director on the editorial advisory board for Customer Care News — which highlights emerging customer service products and provides grants, research and educational opportunities for business owners — for three years.
Academically, Ms. Diehl earned an associate degree in travel and hospitality from VIP Travel School and an associate degree in business administration and management from Indiana University Northwest, both in 1985. Dedicated to the ideals of lifelong learning, she was certified in organizational leadership and communication by the University of California, Irvine in 2022 and earned a Six Sigma white belt through SOCAP International in 2014.
Ms. Diehl attributes much of her success to networking and credits SOCAP International as a guiding principle throughout her career. A sought-after public speaker and panelist, she has contributed knowledge and thought leadership at various SOCAP conferences and has been featured in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Magazine.
To commemorate her achievements and outstanding leadership in consumer care, Retail Management named her one of the top 30 customer service executives in 2024 — a distinction she regards as particularly rewarding. She is also a finalist for Best Contact Center Director of the Year by the International Customer Management Institute (ICMI) in 2025.
Looking toward the future, Ms. Diehl remains dedicated to advancing her career while fostering growth among her teams.
